Not 600. It's just round 2 right. Taking a 40-45-15 split between round, a class size of 680 and a yield of 71% (businessweek), we are looking at roughly 400-430 calls going out this week.

They probably have 4-5 people making the calls so thats roughly a 100 calls one person has to make over 2 or 3 days (both of which are doable, I think). Going by that I still think we are looking at calls starting on Wednesday or Thursday. (Tuesday i.e. today seems unlikely).

I completely agree Cook. They need to make 600 phone calls in 3 days. If they have a staff of 10 (just a guess), then that is 20 calls per day, which is doable. At the latest I think Thursday this week.

I don't think they are taking the yield factor into account at this stage. Ross seems to be a very desirable school for certain segment of applicants, and yield can change from one year to another.

I think they are going to call, as you said, about 45 % of the incoming class (680), and the yield factor is going to be addressed from the WL after the rounds' intake ends (Ross is very generous with it's WL, from what I read - exactly because of yield). So, it's about 300 calls to make.

Soojin had this blog post a week before the Round 1 notification deadline:
https://rossblogs.typepad.com/admissions ... pdate.html

My guess is that she'll have a similar one up not too long before Round 2 calls begin given how up front she's been in her blog this application year on when admit calls, interview invites, etc were going out.

Last year Soojin updated the blog on the exact day the calls started (March 08 2010):

https://rossblogs.typepad.com/admissions ... index.html

Given that, no blog update today = no calls?

Possibly! I'm just trying to hold off my worrying until she actually posts something. Then the worrying can begin.

I think Yeltsina might have a point. The blog post went up at 9:30a last year on the day they started calls. Maybe we'll see a blog post tomorrow morning, and then we can start the panic? :)

So looks like no calls today?

Does anybody know why Ross has a 71% yield rate when peer schools Duke and Darden are both in the 45-50% range? Is Ross really that much better? or am I missing something?

Ross wants candidates who actually want to go to Ross. They have the second highest yield among all business schools and its an important metric for them in the rankings, so they will want to keep this number high.

If Ross suspects that they're your 3rd or 4th option then they are less likely to hand out an admit because they want people to come to the school because its their 1st choice.

Thanks. My vote for most useful response of the day...a response youd expect any elite b school student to give

Historically Ross has been in the top-10 far more consistently than either Darden or Fuqua.

https://forums.businessweek.com/n/pfx/fo ... &tid=75181
https://consusrankings.com/2008/03/22/th ... ings-2007/

Another reason could be that Ross gets some of the U of M brand equity. Michigan has a top-10 school in nearly every discipline (law, medicine, engineering..), and that definitely helps too.

Great links KingKREEP.

I would definitely be interested in seeing the BW numbers updated past riverripper's 2008 numbers.

I don't have the older rankings in front of me, or else I would update them myself. My thoughts:
Stanford catches up to Ross a bit?
Chicago moves up that list a bit with their recent #1 rankings over the past few years?
Darden & Tuck fall further?

Also, looks like the Consensus Group hasn't been updated since 2008 (your link was 2007):

KingKREEP, how are students doing finding jobs this year? I think I saw a stat on BW that only 71% of Michigan grads found work after 3 months while Duke was at 70%. But, I could swear the career services rep at Duke told us it was 97% last weekend.

Anecdotally, I've heard from different friends that they knew of people from Michigan who couldn't find jobs. The sell at Duke was that their alumni were super active in making sure their firms hired fellow Fuquans. I'm sure it's true at Ross, but I don't recall the same energy when discussing it.

Ignoring my love for the UofM, I think the schools are incredibly similar. All things being equal, I'd choose Ross for the action-based experience. But, let's be honest... finding work after graduation is key.

This is exactly what I am hearing.....industry is finding it tough (no recruitment almost) and consulting is hence v v competitive as everyone now wants to become a consultant. But this is the same across all top 10 US B Schools. Hopefully when we graduate (providing we get admission), the job market will get better.

I don't know about you all, but I think this wait is thrilling!

Can KingKreep or any Ross-ers illuminate us with updated career stats from this year (internships/full-time by industry)?

BTW, positions were an issue only with international students not for locals from what I hear.

Enjoying the process now that I got one admit on the resume. Its nice to know i'm going somewhere. Now I just need to hear from Ross (my #1). Would love to get that phone call, but the adrenaline is leading to me being abnormally productive event with my senioritis.
