Received my background check info from Ross yesterday. Apparently they are not using Kroll, they are using some company called HireRight. I already submitted to the check and paid the $55 fee. It said results will be back in 3-5 business days.

Did anyone else get that email?

I did too, but my headache has been whether to submit it now or wait to do so later. In my case, I am thinking that will be a giveaway to my current employer that I will be leaving very soon when I have not made my intentions known yet. Do you think HireRight will let them know I am leaving for b-school? Apparently, I want to get this background thing done as early as possible, but I am a little confused and any insights will be appreciated.

I know that HireRight gives you the option of them either contacting or not contacting your current/previous employer. They say that if you request that your current employer not be contacted, then they may require you to provide other means of verification such as W2, 1099 tax forms, etc. Also the process will take longer if you request them not to contact your employer.

This topic has come up quite a bit. Background checks are conducted for many reasons and this does not tip them off that you are going away. The person conducting the interview may or may not even notice that their "client" is a school. They just read the questions and check off the boxes on the standard form. In my case the HR department has a different number entirely for these sorts of inquiries that is in no way related to my job or boss.

As an FYI Kroll is the parent company to HireRight. Also if you had many jobs within one company just list your most recent job title and salary and the start date for the whole company.

Dang! I've been sitting on that email for months, but your post is making me think I should go ahead and do the verification sooner rather than later.

The turnaround is very quick so I will encourage you to go ahead. I submitted mine on this past Saturday, and just had an email from Ross that the report is already sent to them so basically, it took them one business day to complete the verification.

Same here. I submitted mine Friday morning and got an email from Ross an hour or two ago saying that they had received and verified my HireRight report.

Same. I had to go back and forth with them and send them W2 forms and stuff. I'm glad that I finally got the email.

So does the email from Ross indicate that the entire process is complete or does Ross call the recommenders and verify other bits of information? I mentioned to my letter writers that they would be getting a call, but still nothing.

when you get a mail from Ross that your verification is complete and you're set to go..thts it...there will be no more background checks. its done and you are ready to matriculate provided you meet the other conditions - WES and enrollment deposit.

thats great info.
should we expect an email from WES, similar to HireRight, about education verification? or do they simply process the verification without informing you?
Thx!
