Hi guys, I have clarification about the "what is your Plan B" question in the interview debriefs - does this pertain to our Plan B if we don't get into their school or if I don't realize my short-term and long-term goal? Thanks!

Also make sure both plans are correlated. Ex, plan A: strategy consultant, plan B: corporate strategist. This shows that you know what you like/want and can switch from plan B to plan A easily when you have a chance.

Best of luck! Keep us updated! I am sure you will make it, and your first coffee at Rotman will be on me! I personally love people from Phillipines. I admire that they are always cheerful! Best of luck again!

I'm trying to manage my expectations, but I think it went well! I was interviewed by Lynda Vanderburgh (who I met when she visited the Philippines in 2019). She said she'll try to let me know by next Friday!

Thank you for your kind words, I look forward to having that coffee with you soon! I take it you've received an offer already?

Also, I found out through GMATClub's session with Danielle Spence (one of Rotman's Asst. Director) that they do not allow deferrals - is this true?

My interview lasted a little bit over 30 minutes and was very conversational. After every answer, she would affirm or clarify any of my statements (e.g. yes, you will definitely get that from Rotman, etc.)

1. Walk me through your CV
2. Why Rotman?
3. What are your post-MBA goals?
4. What was your biggest accomplishment in your organization?
5. Tell me about a time that you failed.
6. If you were granted a spot in our MBA program, what would you do in 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year?
6. What other MBA programs are you looking into?
7. If you had 3 wishes for Rotman, what would they be?
8. Do you have any questions for me?

I only got to ask one question at the end since a lot of them were already addressed during the follow-up discussions.

Thanks, everyone for sharing your debriefs as well. Truly helpful!

I think so. They are not planning on offering any deferrals. Businessconquerer tyildirim92 Do you know how Rotman treats deferral requests?

Rotman is not very Deferral friendly.

They don't give enough scholarship so they lose leverage- a key point that makes people not defer when you're given a choice to defer.

For example, in most schools when deferrals are given they say that the scholarship will be reassessed next year. So, people with $100k scholarship are hesitant to defer.

ROTMAN'S Scholarship average is 25k (despite strong profile) and isn't strong enough a leverage to make anyone hesitant to defer.

Given an option- majority would defer, impacting the school's reputation.

Not yet finalized my decision. Let's just say "most likely" but I will definitely be in Toronto. So, no worries. We can still meet.

Thank you, I am a bit worried about that.. I was hoping to defer in case this corona situation doesn't get any better by September (I don't think online classes are a bang for the buck). Guess we'll just see and hope for the best!

I would say its incredibly unlikely that they would offer a deferral due to COVID-19. Last year some schools were more receptive to it, mostly because when applicants were applying for Fall 2020 intake the pandemic hadn't started yet. If you are applying for Fall 2021 entry, the schools rightly assume you are well aware that there is a risk that the beginning of the program may be online and as such would be less likely to grant a deferral on that basis.

I agree with mbaapplicant2021

Given how Rotman handled deferral requests last year, I would go ahead and assume they will not grant a deferral request because of COVID-19.

You still have around 6 months for the Fall start. Given the state of the vaccines, I guess you should be able to go for an in-person MBA. Let's hope for it :)
