Hi everyone, got an interview invite today from Rotman. I submitted my application last year but my GMAT score was too low. They encouraged me to raise my score and offered to move my application to 2021 in-take. I submitted my new scores, updated my resume, and completed the video and timed written assessment last January 14. Wish me luck!
mgqa congratulations! What's your profile like now? (GMAT, work ex, nationality)
Posted from my mobile device Legolas1221 Here's a quick overview of my profile:
Demographic: Philippines, Female, 25
Undergrad:- Took up Business Administration, GPA 1.57 out of 1.00 (about 3.43 if converted, I think), consistent Dean's Lister from soph-senior year
- Participated in several extra-curricular activities, mostly on the creatives side before becoming Local Committee President of an international organization
- My primary and secondary education was also quite unconventional since it was modular and mostly home-based. This allowed me to graduate earlier than usual
Work Experience: 7 years in total in the insurance industry
(will copy paste from my resume at this point sorry lol)
- Started as a Management Trainee, underwent rigorous technical and managerial on-the-job training with 15 departments including support units and profit centers, and gained exposure to the overall business model of the company. Also handled special projects simultaneous to the on-the-job training with the lines, which included evaluating internal claims processes and presenting recommendations to address bottlenecks.
- Got promoted to Assistant Manager after the 2-year MT program and was assigned to a Special Projects role, acted as Junior Product Manager for one of the newer product lines:
>assisted product manager in generating almost ₱7M in gross sales (178% growth vs. previous year)
>expanded distribution network by arranging new partnerships and overseeing launch preparations, increasing the number of Points of Sale nationwide by 197%
>maximized sales potential of distribution channels by providing sales support and implementing tactical activities such as promotions and incentives in order to realize product line projections.
>managed sales performance of product line daily by preparing sales reports and deducing actionable insights.
- Got promoted to Manager position after 2 years as AM
>Led a team of two in generating almost ₱30M in gross sales by employing a multi-channel approach as product manager
> Spearheaded the setup of several distribution channels that are non-traditional to the industry e.g. malls and digital partners who have apps
>Devised and implemented marketing plans to drive incremental sales of products and channels managed.
> Participated in several business development initiatives which included exploring alternate distribution channels and new product developments
>Analyzed relevant data and actively worked with the support units in executing continuous process improvements such as developing systems
GMAT: Took it 3 times, all really bad
GRE: Scored 312 (Q155, V157) -- about 560/570 ish if converted?
As you can see, my test scores are far from stellar. I think it's my work experience (I had to do a little bit of everything in my company due to the cross-functional nature of my role), possibly undergrad record and underrepresented demographic (female, Southeast Asian - they did mention in a podcast that they are looking to grow this demographic). My spike factor essay may have also helped, since I did aspire to become a novelist at some point + I've had some pretty unfortunate circumstances in life that are quite interesting to read lmao
Hope this helps!!!
