Stanford GSB: Class of 2017 - Calling All Applicants!

If last year is any indication, DB will start calling international applicants in the late evening on Monday, December 8th (Tuesday local time for you internationals). He'll call every admitted student throughout the night and next day. I was in NYC last year and received my call around 11:30 am EST on the day before the official results are posted to the application portal. For round 1 admits, Stanford will provide you with your financial aid package on Admit Weekend if you complete the fin. aid application by a certain deadline. Admit Weekend last year was in mid February. Let me know if there are any other questions about the process or the first quarter. Classes ended yesterday, and the GSB experience so far has surpassed even my highest expectations.

Thanks for providing some clarity there! So does that mean you could apply for financial aid without your tax documents from the most recent year?

Thank you so much for the info!!! I have a few more questions that you may or may not have answers to. 1) Does Stanford negotiate aid/match offers from other schools? 2) Are you at a disadvantage aid-wise if you have already sent in your deposit and committed to Stanford? 3) If I get into Stanford and the financial stuff works out and I am able to attend, I would very much like to do some sort of internship-type thing before school starts in the fall. Would I be able to leverage GSB career services/the alumni network to chase that down? 4) Are there summer boot camps for specific topics (i.e. accounting)?

Side bar: I flew to Europe this past week for work and I unexpectedly stopped in SF on the way back. I'm hoping it's a sign that there is a phone call headed my way on Tuesday...

I believe you can send in information with estimated 2013 income.

I do not know.

I seriously doubt it.

You can probably e-mail the career services and cold e-mail alums. If you get a chance to not work - travel.

Yes but it's very light.

RooMoo22, I can't say for sure whether the GSB will match the money offered by other schools but my guess is they will not negotiate with you on it. I know one guy who tried to use his Wharton money as leverage for some more GSB money and it didn't work at all. I think because this is need-based money, it can't really change since they likely have a formula with inputs such as your earnings for the past 2-3 years, savings, etc. If it were merit-based (like for most schools with the exception of HBS and GSB, to the best of my knowledge), you may be able to negotiate.

I think they mean it when they say that interviews are just one component of the entire application. I've had friends who thought they bombed the interview get in, and vice versa. Don't lose hope!
