Just wanted to make a quick post on some general thoughts...

I've been lurking GMATClub since this February, when I decided to start on the quest to tackle the GMAT. I firmly believe that the advice on this board made it possible for me to jump from 600 to 710.

In addition, this forum has helped keep me (in)sane by knowing the current status of everyone's b-school pursuit, and realizing we're all in the same shoes, just different schools!

If anyone is planning to apply to R3 or R4 at McCombs and needs a fresh set of eyes on their essays, or just general questions on the application, please do PM me, and I'll do my best to help. I am from Texas, and planning on matriculating to McCombs (my first choice) and am not planning to do any R2 apps.

Good luck y'all, from the great state of Texas.

The e-mail itself doesn't say much, just:

Your application for Texas Full Time MBA: Austin has been given a decision. Please log in to the application website to see it.

Then you log-in to the McCombs Symplicity application site where it will have the admit letter.

I got in!

That being said, I also tried logging into the "my status" website and that one still shows my application being in review. Anyone else having this issue?

Also, has anyone heard anything about scholarship info yet?

You have to log into the actual application site. You will find there the official letter.

I don't know yet about scholarships. I guess the admitted package should include that?

Yesssss....Got an admit!

Now I have a problem, I have an interview with DUKE and their desicion date is on feb 1, when in Austin I need to give a final answer by January 27...What should I do? :?:
If I were you I'd contact McCombs and see if there's any way they'd give you those few extra days. That would be ideal, otherwise you have a hard choice to make. What does giving them an answer actually entail, is it a binding agreement or a deposit?

WL. Darn it. :-X When would I know when a change will be made to the status?
As far as I know there's not a specific date you'll know by. It basically all depends on McCombs' yield and more specifically who chooses another school. If a lot of people with a profile similar to yours choose another school, then your chances of being accepted off the WL improve.

An R1 admit already posted in this thread that they had to tell McCombs yay or nay by Jan. 27th. So I think that's the next date to keep in mind as that's when McCombs will start to get a feel for their yield. Of course there's no guarantee that you'll hear anything around that time as McCombs may keep anyone or everyone on the waitlist through R2 decisions and maybe even longer...

Nobody likes being in limbo, but hey, it could definitely be worse.

Hi,

Yes the decision is a tough one!

Don't get me wrong, I would love going to McCombs. However, If I will be accepted to Duke it is something to think about.

I don't think that this is a binding agreement, but there is a 1250$ deposit to put.

Just received a Special Invitation from "Texas MBA" to a Faculty Speaker Event in which the first sentence reads "congratulations on your recent admission to the Texas MBA program". However, I haven't yet received any official e-mail from admissions to inform me of an acceptance. Strange that I would receive this e-mail first, but I am breathing a sigh of relief nonetheless.

Snowbolster, looks like we may be in the same situation regarding a Duke interview, as mine is the end of January as well.

Good luck all.

Got the notification email at midnight last night and just got a call from the admissions office. They said to look out for an email this afternoon with scholarship info and admit weekend details.
