Make sense, if you don't mind could you pls share the other options too against which you'll be weighing the UCONN? I'm just a prospective student trying to learn more about the school.

Thanks

I'm still waiting to hear from other schools, but, beyond that, I also need to consider my wife as this decision will greatly affect her as well. She has been very supportive and encouraging, but I need to keep in mind while a big move like this is exciting (and frankly welcomed) for me, it may put a lot of strain on my wife and her career plans.

Honestly, though, it is incredibly hard to beat the ROI provided through UConn. Additionally, the program seems exceptionally well adapted to handle career switchers such as myself. But most importantly, UConn seems to have a strong presence in the financial services industry and offers great opportunities for students wanting to go into investment management. The Student Managed Fund is one such opportunity and the program further offers the Finance Accelerator experience in addition to the Graduate Finance Association.

If you want to look at UConn from a rankings perspective there is something to be said for how it is being perceived by peers and recruiters, the majority weight of the US News ranking metric. For the last 5 years UConn has risen in the US News Rankings by an average of approximately 6 spots per year. That perception growth indicates to me that the school is committed to excellence in both the perception and the quality of the professional UConn produces.

As an update, I was admitted on November 19th in the early afternoon (EST). I am now waiting to find out what kind of scholarship package UConn will offer me; I should hear back by early december regarding scholarships.

Great to hear that David. BTW I got accepted too but need my official IELTS score submitted for formal decision.

Interviewed recently but with the holiday season, I expect their decision to be a little late. Lets see how it goes.

Hey JarvisR! Congrats on your admit!

Are you committing to UConn or are you waiting to hear about scholarships and from other schools before you decide?

Again, congratulations on getting into a fantastic program!

Thanks dwartenb89. :)
Yes UConn is a good school. I would love to join the program but the decision depends upon the financial aid from school.
Any news, whether they have started sharing scholarship details?

Regards.

I was admitted Nov. 19th and I haven't heard about scholarships yet. I suspect we'll hear back either this or next week-at least that's my hope!

This is getting a little too stretched. I didn't even receive my decision on candidature. I was interviewed on 9th of November. I dropped a mail to Meg but no reply from her side. I just hope the whole dept didn't go hibernation during the winter.

its okay to be anxious but I think I know what might be going on...they interviewed a lot of candidates but started giving admits early to only a few (thats not how other schools work) and then stopped communicating after a while. Maybe they realized that they need to roll out the admits all at once like other schools do. They would have received mails from other candidates asking them the same query and thus decided to stop communication.

I don't see much action on this thread. Where are the other members, who applied to UConn. It would be great to have them here and learn from their experience and research on school. Atleast we can spend some time together doing chit-chat, until results are out :-D

@alaphone I don't think so. Usually most schools roll out admission if they like a candidate. So in that case it is most likely they will put us on hold.

JarvisR it is tough to move on without hearing a decision. Even when couples break up, they demand a notification. Silent treatment is the worst form of formal communication. With all due respect though.

Hi all! I share WaterFlowsUp point of view, they should have an specific date for notifications. It feels like the girl that you ask for a date but doesn't say anything, but just when you decide to go on a date with another girl she calls you and say: ''Btw I want to go out with you" jajaja
And yes, I think I am not going farther than be waitlisted

ok guys!! i just had a word with Susan from the admissions committee. She put me on hold to clarify few points with the graduate office. She said it is all going to come out in sometime , either today or tomorrow. So ... keep your fingers crossed and keep the balloons ready.

Was there also mention of whether they would announce scholarships as well in the next couple of days?

Thanks for sharing what you have heard.
