just found this chat. Got my admin letter and got full scholarship, any advice on how I should rank this offer compared to no $$ at Columbia?

they didn’t specify the $ amount, just says "full-tuition"

well you’ll have to spend about 60-80k living in California. 250k at Columbia. So compare seeing post mba goal and all

I am interested in consulting, and Marshall is not a target school for MBB. With that said, I’d save~140K in 2 years, and that’s a big number. Even if I get 20K more from a M7, it’d still take me 7 years to pay off the loan.

Yup. That’s a good analysis. MBB do come at Marshall. Don’t recruit as many people. But still if you’re competitive enough, I’d say you’ll get a similar package. Not even that 20k difference you’re talking about

if you aren’t and intl, M7 without $ will repay itself in the long run

already got dinged by HSW and Sloan without interview, so pretty discouraged. Marshall was my safety school, but the full scholarship was unexpected.

safety school will definitely provide scholarships. Top chocies won’t. That’s the choice everyone needs to make. I think interact with people- current students and alumni

yeah everyone I talked to at Marshall had a great connection with me, and I was planning on moving to LA even before contemplating MBA, that’s why I applied Marshall R1. It’s a great school, it’s just not M7 or T10. But the full scholarship def changes the game.

to your point, the consulting package between MBB and big 4 is probably not too big a difference, so the ROI is def higher comparing 60K vs 250K
