I have got wait-listed in R1 after an interview. I am an Indian applicant and was asked to submit a valid TOEFL score after the interview. I had not appeared for the test before, so I was not able to submit the scores before the decision deadline.
I am a Chinese residing in Singapore. I was informed about my waitlist status on the R1 decision date. After that, received an email from the school saying that if I have a toefl score, I should submit it to them.
From what I heard (news not confirmed), the university has made TOEFL scores mandatory for all international applicants (Asia at least). So, whoever was invited to interview from R1 was asked to submit their scores and it was made compulsory for all R2/R3 candidates.
I have submitted my TOEFL scores almost a week back both through email and ETS. Now waiting for a decision !!!
Thank you, mrc9045, for starting a thread for UCLA waitlisted applicants. I've added roll call in the first post.
Waitlisted Applicants: In order your username to be displayed in the roll call, make sure you have set your UCLA application status as waitlisted for Class of 2017.

I'm sure they just weigh Rd2 against WLers somewhat evenly as it makes perfect sense for them to try to build the best class on paper they can. That said, I pray there is some benefit now to being a round 1 applicant. I need everything I can get!
Looking at last year's forums, it looks like Anderson will release early decisions around May 20th. Of course they'll send out another notification on June 3rd. My guess it will be quiet until those dates.
