Is the Wharton waitlist an on-going ding/accept process or do we have to wait until round 3?

it sounds like we have to wait till r3 decision day and even then, it can extend into the summer.

How many candidates get off the W WL?Looks the adcoms uses WL aggressively. I don't see many R1 WLers admitted or they don't post.

yea i'm not sure how i feel about how wharton uses waitlist. why waitlist everyone and their mama? but, i'm happy they allowed me to save face rather than just reject me.

In the waitlist letter it says that we will know a final decision no later than May 12.

No it says:

"We will be reviewing your application each round and will contact you no later than Thursday, 12 May, 2011 with an update as to your status. "

Meaning they may not have a decision on 12 May (r3 decision) but will have a status update
I wonder what the letter of r1 waitlisters say

This is what it says as an R1 Waitlister who was re-waitlisted:

"Thank you again for your application to the Wharton MBA program. The Admissions Committee has completed another review of your application and would like to offer you the option to continue on the waitlist.
We will be reviewing your application periodically and will contact you no later than May 12, 2011 with another update as to your status."

interesting that it says periodically on mine.

did they contact you periodically as they promised?

sounds like the same thing in r2 letters just worded differently.

no you are missing the point

i was wailisted in R1, but that is my R2 waitlist letter as I was re-waitlisted.

so clearly the R1 people that were waitlisted and then waitlisted again in R2 have different letters than just the people that were waitlisted in R2.

My letter reads exactly the same (re-waitlister here). Throwing in "periodically" cannot be viewed pos/neg at all. I can't read much into it honestly.

In at Wharton and Yale.

I was so afraid - I couldn't function on Thursday. And when I didn't get a call by 6pm ET, I was a wreck. :( Only to get an email later on!

Having said that, I am waiting for MIT, which is my first choice.

To those not selected, I cannot pretend to understand the heartbreak. The emotional exhaustion of waiting, of taking the GRE, getting recommenders ready, writing essays, etc, is nothing to sneeze at.

Best of luck with everything. The heartbreak can be devastating, but chin up!

PEanalyst, you continue to be on the waitlist? Do you have any other choice?

It's so funny that I was in the gathering of other school when I got the call, so I have to pretend nothing happened....
