I also wonder if really a lot of people are going to withdraw from the WL? It seems like most people are depositing at other schools but still staying on the WL.

The only hope we get is if people they admitted were accepted to better schools.

For people on the WL that still have Wharton as their #1 choice, then I don't begrudge them for staying on the waitlist. If others are happy to go to another school, hopefully they'll withdraw themselves.

On the adcom contact re: WL status, I think you're on the right track. I'm hoping to get some insight today after I speak with a 2nd year student and hopefully a friend who's on the executive MBA adcom. I'll post any feedback I receive.

Spoke with my 2nd year friend and he's going to ask some of his friends who are on the volunteer 2nd year adcom. He also suggested to wait for the admissions committee to reach out with futher instructions/next steps. If sending add'l info is deemed beneficial, probably not worth sending it in unless you know that the second they "admit" you, you'll enroll (as in, don't do it if it's not your top choice). In light of his advice, I held off on reaching out to my eMBA contact so as not to muddy the waters. Good luck everyone.

for whatever its worth, the 2013 Wharton MBA fb group has 82 members so far...the no is comparable with the # fb group members of other schools with similar class size (hbs has 64 ppl on fb)...doesn't suggest low R1 admit #s at W..although can't make the inference with full conviction...

A number of students are not joining because they don't want to disclose to their bosses/coworkers just yet (my boat) or they're not sure about their final choice.

hey MBAgirl2010,

i'm makin a different point...what u say wud be true of all schools..

so for schools with the similar class sizes (ie HBS and W), the # of ppl in the fb groups should be in the same range (discounting for cases who do not want to be in the grp/do not know about the fb group/do not care etc)

speculation was that given the large no of WLs for W, mebbe the # of R1 admits was less...

if that were the case, the W fb group should have lesser members than the HBS group, which is not the case..

so lookin at the fb group size doesn't confirm that W admitted lesser #s in R1...it also doesn't say that they admitted 400 odd ppl...so we can continue speculating hoping for some insider info from the school :)

I'm so bummed out that this is one of my first few posts since last friday night...

oh wells, i think i have the strength now to continue the rd2 process... good luck everyone! i'm not counting on W anymore (if i get in by next March/April, that's great, but I'm not expecting anything).

So if I read that e-mail correctly, it looks like we will not hear before March 24th and the fact that they waitlisted so many candidates this year truly means nothing.

I agree with your interpretation of the e-mail. Doesn't sound like there's much we can do about it.

By any chance, did anyone get two copies of the e-mail? I got one at 3:05pm and 3:11pm (eastern time).

...that we know of.

I think we're all well aware that they won't be picking waitlisters out of a hat. As they build their class, their priorities will shift in terms of who they are looking for. If at the end of the day, you are the strongest south american female from the insurance industry, and that's what they are lacking, then you should prob start packin for philly. At this point, they don't even know what they're gonna get, hence waitlist.
