i heard from someone close to admissions that they admitted mostly people with non-traditional backgrounds in round one (people working internationally for extended periods of time) and international candidates (esp people from china and brazil).

Any indication as to why they would do that?

Wow, my app must've been horrible. I'm both non-traditional and from Brazil.

So in day-dreaming about getting in off the waitlist, I think that the only date that waitlisters would possibly hear before March 24th, is the Round 2 2nd interview invite date where Wharton will waitlist and ding more people.

Other than that, I would assume we won't hear before March 24th, but I could be wrong.

Any thoughts?

I don't remember the exact date for that off-hand but I think that's pretty close to the R2 decision date. They'd probably just wait and do one wave altogether.

So it looks like February 18th will be the next possible date that we will hear anything? I doubt that we will hear anything before that date, though I guess I don't know enough, but that would be my guess. Its very interesting that they are waiting two weeks between the 1st and 2nd interview invite dates.

Though looking at the dates again it seems like they will invite people on a daily basis in the two weeks from feb. 4th to feb. 18th, so maybe we could hear within that two week period? Though I doubt it. I also doubt that we will hear before March 24th no matter how much I want to convince myself that we will.

Look at what Booth just posted:

Timeline

Given that many of you have important decisions to make about your future within the coming weeks and months, we have decided to add an initial review to the waitlist process. Before our Round 2 mid-decision date on February 16, we will evaluate waitlisted candidates based on the quality of the applicant pool in Round 2. At this point, we’ll make some decisions regarding the waitlist. While many of you will continue to remain on the waitlist, some of you will receive a final decision at this time. We felt it was important to provide some of our waitlisted candidates with closure much earlier in the process. For those of you who will continue to be on the waitlist, decisions will be released as part of our Round 2 process on March 16. There will be the possibility of receiving a final decision or continuing to be on the waitlist into the next application round.

I have recently just been promoted - 6 months early - and I am wondering how I should go about ensuring that Wharton learns of my promotion?

Has anyone heard any news as to how many are expected to come in off the waitlist or why there were so many waitlisted in R1?
