Anyone know what Wharton calls its pub night? Basically the equivalent of liquidity preference function, or C-function, at Wharton... Also, is it a no-no to mention these at an interview? i.e. Why Wharton? Because I really want to get hammered every week at "pub night"... or perhaps some more diplomatically worded version of this.

It is just "The Pub". People around here make no mistake when asked "are you going to the pub?" - there is only one beloved pub that has a special place in the heart of every Wharton MBA. The Pub is definitely one of the best things about Wharton.

I've seen assurances to the contrary, but isn't is pretty safe to assume if you're getting an invite today, you're bottom of the barrel?

Then again, I still haven't gotten one, so I don't even know how that's classified.

PBateman - I don't necessarily think that's true. Perhaps there were a lot of similar applicants and they wanted to make sure they picked the best.

There was muddled info over on BW. It seemed like people tried to glean an answer during the live chat last night with admissions, but they skirted around it. Something to the effect of "you'll have the necessary information one way or another by the end of today" and then some weird comment about "any good news after should be a nice surprise." Who knows how reliable this is, I wasn't able to participate in the chat. I'm just paraphrasing too, you can sort through the most recent few pages to find the comments from people who did participate.

My take was that you'll definitely know if you're dinged today, and there may be some odd scenario where if you haven't been dinged or received an interview invite by the end of today, you'll know it's the latter.

But again, it was not clear, so yeah, just keep fingers crossed for the best I suppose!
