DINGED.

After an excrutiating wait of 9.3 weeks - I got the result today. Overall it has been a very humbling experience. Though deeply dissappointed, I am determined to improve myself in my remaining rd2 applications. (Yet to start them!)

thats the spirit grad; and you have many other ultra-elites left for R1 as well ...! Did they give you any feedback though..?

Thats the problem, now I feel like I plain over reached with all my R1 apps! About the feedback, I did check the website which asks people who have been denied admission to email them between Jun4 and Jun8.

And very true - months of hardwork, blown away in a moment!

sorry to hear about that guys! I really don't see how CBS can ding such a great group of people who worked so hard on their applications! I guess the competition is pretty fierce this year. I think you'll all have much better luck with the other schools, so don't panic yet! :)

Still haven't heard anything.

I wonder what to make of this. Did anyone here get an alumni or current student rec in addition to the two required recommendations?

Yes, I had a letter of support from a Columbia PhD in Econ. He was also a lecturer at Columbia Graduate school like 20 years ago. I was wondering if it would help since he is nowhere close to the business school, but then after i was admitted I found out his letter mattered the world to my app. So, if you are burning in the waiting period, getting a letter from a columbia alum may strengthen or speed up the app.

Submitted my app to CBS last night. Got this note today:

Your application is complete and will go under review by the Admissions Committee on January 9th for Regular Decision.

You can expect to hear either a final decision or an invitation to interview from us within 12 weeks starting on January 9th.

Please keep in mind that an invitation to interview can come at any point in the evaluation process.

Maybe this has been posted before, but I can't find it in the 25 page thread :)

Just wanted to ask everyone about the following:

In the General Information III and work history part, would you put the information in quick, bullet form or in flowing text? I don't want to flood the reviewer with too much information.

What do you guys think?

i actually filled it out in flowing text, and I got accepted, so i guess it's ok. I wanted to try bulletpoints but their app system sucks, you have to do a lot of calculating and repasting.

Thanks a lot for your reply. How many words/lines for each? The box says I can write 600,000 characters ... but that may be a tad too much :)

I did not 'bullet' my experience because the interface is just sucky. I ended up writing a para for each experience. I probably wrote about 150 words or so...so the 600000 character limit did not come into picture :D

Any suggestions on what to do if you don't remember when the exact start/end dates are of internships? Those were so long ago I barely remember what I did.

Do they ask for internships. If it was so long ago that you dont remember what you did then its probably not value added. I think internships are pretty much only used by very young applicants.
