Hello there. Any round 3 candidates? Wanted to know do they look at applications only after the cut off date or once they receive it along with the recos.

Thanks.

Was anybody at the Super Saturday event today? I was from the gold cohort and wondering if anybody else from my group is on here!

About how many applicants were there for super saturday?

My cohort had 24 people and there were four cohorts, so presumably right around 100 folks. It was more than I was thinking, especially considering that almost everyone (at least from my perspective) was a non-bay area US applicant.

Over a 100?? Man...looks like competition is going to be pretty stiff...

Does Berkeley eventually "release" applicants who don't get interview invites? Thanks!

Just wanted to bump this question from before. Does anybody know if there's an intermediary "release date"?

According to the email the school sent Feb 19, no. "We have already sent out a number of interview invitations, but we will continue to invite candidates up to the notification deadline of March 26, 2015."

I had my on-campus interview last week and thought I'd share my experience. Overall, it was very conversational - I got the usual, walk me through your resume, short/long term goals, why MBA, why Haas, difficult experience, failure, etc. I would be prepared to elaborate on the behavioral questions...like if you are asked to explain a difficult experience, then you may be asked what did you do? Did it work? How did that turn out? So just be familiar with your examples and you'll be fine. I really enjoyed chatting with my interviewer and got a great vibe from them! Hopefully it will turn out well for me on 3/26!! Good luck to everyone!

Didn't really say over 100. 24 people in four groups, so presumably 96, give or take a couple. Assuming that they accept ~500 people per year, that means about 1000 interview invites. Maybe round 2 gets 450 of those, one third of which are internationals. That would leave about 300 invites, of which, 100 were at super saturday. So my guess is there are still plenty of invites to go around. Maybe 150 or so (after figuring that some people invited to Super Saturday probably weren't able to make it).

That is some solid deduction. Very good food for thought!

Maybe take out another 50-75 depending on how many you think are in the bay area as well. Depending on where you live you can feel free to put yourself into your respective bucket for remaining invites.

Cartman I was also in the gold cohort.

Interviewing in the last time slot wasn't as bad as I thought :)

Yeah, it didn't wind up working out all that great for me. I'd say that Haas was my worst interview thus far. I kind of had a pretty bad moment during my interview, so at this point I just have to hope that the rest of the interview and application were enough to overcome that. Nothing I can do at this point though!

We're in the same boat. My Haas interview on Saturday (in Texas) was probably my worst interview yet. Woke up with a fever and decided to push on through instead of rescheduling. Had a few moments of my own during the interview. Oh well, here's hoping for the best on March 26th. Jeebus March 26th seems like an age away...

Yeah mine was one where I had about a 30 second pause filled with "that's a good question" to a question that I legitimately couldn't BS my way around. Thankfully I eventually did think of the answer, and salvaged it quite a bit, but I think it was pretty obvious that I didn't know the right answer.

I may be wrong, but I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a minute to think about your answer... It's certainly preferable to rambling off something irrelevant or circular. Sounds like you ended up getting to a good place, and if a 30 second pause was all it took to pull your thoughts together, all the power to you.

Yeah I hope so, but i'm afraid it's one of those things where you would've had to have been there. I think it was pretty obvious I didn't know the answer, and it was a pretty important question for the purposes of showing a genuine interest in the school. That being said, it certainly could've gone much worse, and I did at least manage to salvage something. Just was a little unfortunate because I came away really liking Berkeley. Tremendous location, students, and culture (at least for someone from my background).

"That's a good question" is always a great way to buy some time. I think I have used that line at least once every interview, both school and job. Even on some first dates! My on campus experience and interview definitely had me sold. I wish I could have made it to the Super Saturday event but already had other personal things scheduled long before the invite. Anyways, you probably did better than you think you did. Hopefully will see ya on the other side next month!

I did not receive this email that several people on the forum have mentioned. Did every applicant receive this general e-mail from Haas?

I didn't but I'm not sure if that's because I applied through the consortium.

Does anyone know what the question(s) were that were stumping people? Were that behavioral questions or were they somehow testing the students knowledge of Haas?
