Awesome, that gave me a glimmer of hope. I've not heard of Harvard's 2 + 2 programs but I'll look into that.

What other things should/can I do to make my application more attractive despite a low GPA? I forgot to stress out that my university has the most rigorous computer science department in the country, and that about 90% (I'm speaking for my class) has a GPA of less than 3.0

The general advice for low GPA is to balance it with a high GMAT score. But if as you say you're at a good university for where you are and low GPA overall HBS will know/find out and take that into account too.

Hi!

This question has probably been asked countless times before but I just want to know what my "general" chances are in terms of getting into Harvard. I'm still pursuing a degree in Computer Science at a top university in the Philippines and I'm planing on having a career in business/entrepreneurship after graduation rather than a career in programming and IT.

I can say that I'm an average student in terms of grades (My final GPA would probably just reach a range of 2.4-2.5, which is a pretty low mark considering the caliber of Harvard) but I'm certain that I'm smarter than what my transcripts speaks about me. I won in Startup Weekend Manila and it's one of the the reasons why I've been so interested in attending business school lately. I come from a family with barely any formal education so this aspect is very important to me.

I'm currently 18 years old and I'm juggling my time between school (My university has a hectic trimestral calendar system), my part time job (A business apprentice at the country's fastest growing SME. We've worked with several Fortune 500 companies like Youtube, Ebay, Verizon, AT&T and even schools such as Stanford and bands like Coldplay) and my startup (Which I'll be launching early next year with the help of a venture company based in Singapore).

In terms of organizations, I've held some key positions at a number of societies at school but nothing too spectacular. Currently I'm spearheading a possible university-wide syllabus change so it's something that I'm proud about. In terms of sporting I've been a volunteer sports journalist for more than two years (But I had to quit my writing duties just two months ago to focus more on my startup) at 2 major sports publications.

I know that Harvard says that there is no minimum GPA required of applying but I'm just a bit worried that my GPA is too low to even be considered. I've seen people with GPAs of 3.5 and still get rejected. However, I think my achievements, though not academic related, speaks a lot for an 18 year old.

What do you guys think?

You have a decent profile. As you mentioned your job and work outside your academics looks impressive. And your GPA is definitely way below average compared to other applicants of HBS. But the ad coms will not just look at GPA and reject an applicant. You have to show you are better than what your GPA suggests, which can be achieved by excellent GMAT score. Get a score around 750 in GMAT and prepare a good valid story on your weak academics. What matters most is your application essays. As you are very young, you have time on your side to build your profile. Do well in your startup. That’s the best thing you can do to enhance your profile.

You might want to explore HBS2+2 program. This article might help you understand more about how to prepare an application
