Its gonna be a long summer ahead for us waiting.

Thought I would check in with my fellow wls! How is everybody holding out? How is your summer going? I guess this is going to be a long summer. I think that at this point, while you keep watch on the wls, perhaps it is now that time to reconsider that back-up option... reapplying/etc. I plan on reapplying, so i'm in the middle of boosting my GMAT, etc.

I wish everyone the best of luck. Keep the faith, and hopefully we shall all overcome! It's Booth or bust! :).

I'm still expecting some movement this week (not necessarily for me, but for some people). My backup is Ross, which is a fine plan, but I'm waiting on finding housing in A2 for at least a few more weeks.

I have no back up. It's either Booth or not. Should I drop them an email?

There was like a google doc excel sheet that was floating in the previous year's thread (dont know if main or wl thread) with strategies employed by wl ppl and the outcome. You should look at that to see if you can come up with a better strategy

Any hope of getting scholarship this late? Are there any external scholarship resources we can pursue?

Here's the google spreadsheet that was referenced above:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... NOVE#gid=0

Not all that helpful... but here it is nonetheless.

So glad to hear people are getting calls... but it's bringing back the butterflies. Good luck, everyone!

Re: Chicago (Booth) 2013 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
So I recently was admitted from the waitlist to Booth. I was also admitted to Kellogg with a scholarship ($20k/year).

My goal is to go into private equity, with a backup plan of consulting/corporate strategy. I'm leaning towards Kellogg because I think I'd enjoy my time there more and the scholarship money is a nice boost (Booth wasn't able to offer me anything). I think Booth probably has the edge in academics and rankings which is why I'm considering there instead.

What do you think is a better option for me at this point?

First of all, congratulations.

For PE/MC/strat, they are both great options. If you wanted IB, I'd say Booth, as several of the BB's don't recruit at Kellogg. Go where your heart (and maybe the money), tells you. I'm WL at both, so either way you go, it helps me. Just hurry already, would ya?

is there a sarcasm font? bc i'd like to write the following in that font: "dude. ranking is like the most crucial ingredient to success."

in all seriousness though, as brandon pointed out - going with your heart / gut is probably all the advice you'll get here.

i can't imagine anyone telling you that that "if you go to <insert school name>, then you won't make it into X or Y industry", or "if you go to <school>, then you'll definitely get this and that job, but not these". it'll be what you make of it.

You'll do fine either way. PE recruiting is mostly off-campus anyways so there's not a ton of on campus recruitment at any school and even the firms that do recruit/interview on campus don't hire en mass. If you're really in a conundrum check out the alumni directory of both schools. You can start to get an idea of where alums are working and if that aligns with the industry and jobs you're seeking then that could help you decide. If both schools come out of that exercise still equal then go where you'll get the MBA experience that you want.

These links won't clarify the issue, as the contributors are quite divided. They may give you some food for thought. The summary is the same as what's been posted above: there is no wrong choice for you.
