Looking to get into a general management or corporate strategy role after graduation, location does not matter much. Money aside, is going to Booth really that much better than going to Ross?

Michigan has the alum network and really pushes the "Go Blue, Go Anywhere!" and has been doing better and better the last few years. Chicago has always been near the top of the rankings. Are the opportunities coming from the two schools going to be that different?

Opportunities from Booth will be significantly better as Booth is a core school for every company you are going to want while Michigan may not be. Booth will also provide a stronger alumni network for the rest of your career and higher caliber peers while at business school. The two schools are a tier apart so this seems like a pretty straightforward decision in favor of Booth.

I think Booth is a straightforward answer here unless:

1. You have $$ from Ross. I have classmates who left Wharton for a good scholarship. Take it for whatever its worth.
2. For General Management and Corporate Strategy, the location may not be that important but it is important to note that most big companies come to both campuses, and a wide range of alums from Ross and/or Booth should be able to help you where you need to be. That said, I would underline the culture of the both schools and see where you will feel the happiest. Its a hard metric to judge but is often overlooked.
3. Lastly, if you do choose to give Ross some serious thought, I can help you link with some of my classmates recruiting for GM/Corp Strategy. HMU at souvik@umich.edu

You should also think about access to companies while in school. At Booth, folks tend to live downtown in the loop and have easy access to part-time internships and meetings with companies. Also look at each school's internship and job report and you'll get a feel for what your first job out of school could look like at each.
