Suriya28 - my responses:

1. No. A summary usually eats up precious space on an MBA resume.

2. Either works, but use it wisely. For instance, if your undergrad pedigree and grades are strong (e.g. IIT/ Distinction), it's alright to place it above the work-ex. Alternatively, if you have branded employers and/ or your work-ex is strong, it makes sense to place the work-ex section first, followed by Education and Extracurriculars.

This article would provide insights for crafting a strong one-pager resume.

Can anyone clarify the following questions:

1. Do I need to include the professional summary in my resume?
2. Should the education section be below the work experience and above extracurriculars?

Currently, I have education after the professional summary and before the professional experience.

Hi Suriya28,

1. Do I need to include the professional summary in my resume?

Optional: A professional summary is not always necessary, especially for candidates with strong work experience.
If included: Keep it concise (2-3 sentences maximum) and highlight your key skills, career goals, and unique value proposition. Avoid generic statements.

2. Should the education section be below the work experience and above extracurriculars?

Either works. Present the stronger element on the top. This order will allow the admissions committee to quickly understand your academic background and then delve into your professional experience.

By following these guidelines, you can create a professional and impactful resume that effectively showcases your qualifications to the admissions committees. Feel free to schedule a free call with our experts. You can also connect directly with our experts via call at +91 7780769732.
