Thank you all for your active participation as of yet. I've just updated the thread to show everyone's statistics. I want to wish everyone the best of luck this year, and look forward to seeing lots and lots of admits this year.

Yes ED applicants are considered for fellowships. The fellowship deadline is simply the latest date by which you can apply and still be considered for merit based fellowship, not a distinct round strictly for fellowship consideration. Remember CBS does not technically have rounds, but rather rolling admissions with key deadline dates (i.e. Early Decision, fellowship consideration, last call).

Hi. Count me in for CBS. This will be my first shot at MBA apps. I have decided to not go for any professional app help. I want to retain my original touch. 8-)

FYI everyone I'm a current student starting my 2nd year this fall. If anyone has questions, wants to meet up in person to chat, or would like me to look over your essays, let me know.

A good resource for admitted students is the peer advising website: https://cbspeeradvising.wordpress.com/. This may also help prospectives to get a feel for the school.

Count me in for ED. It's NYC! The morals are looser, and the liquor is cheaper!
You must know a different NYC than I do haha. GL with your app.

It's a quote from an F Scott Fitzgerald's poem. They used it in the new Great Gatsby trailer

Does anyone know the situation with the ED $6k deposit? Like do we get it back once we pay tuition, does it get applied to tuition, or neither?

It is applied toward tuition.

For all the Re-applicants out there, I have updated the main page of the thread. I emailed the admissions office a question about re-applying and they sent me a checklist of what is necessary if you are a re-applicant from last year. I have added that on the bottom of the first post to make it easy for everybody. The 2 big items: essay questions only require an essay on how you have improved plus the new short essay on "fit" at Columbia, also you only need 1 new letter of recommendation not 2.

Count me in for the first round.

Anyone from the west coast applying? If so, when are you guys planning on visiting? I don't want to do a campus visit when everyone is out on summer break.

Thanks Moss for clarifying and the peer advising (yourself and the website), I will be hounding both as the deadline draws closer!

One thing - I live abroad and cannot visit NYC before my application (unless a random lucky business trip comes up), does anyone know if this has a big impact?
Not even a tiny one, otherwise those who aren't able to travel would be disadvantaged.

Count me in for CBS.

I would slightly disagree because last year's application asked if you had visited CBS.

CBS seems to be obsessed with keeping their yield high. You need to convince CBS that you'll attend if you're accepted, and by taking the time to visit the school, it shows that you are pretty interested.

But at the same time, visiting/not visiting probably only impacts your chances very slightly.

Wow early! I'm hoping to have my ED re-application in around the middle of August.
