Hi,

Looking for advice based on my profile:

I’m an Indian 22M, currently a data analyst at S&P Global working with data research in M&A deals. I’ve got a little over a year of work experience (~15 months) at my current role.

I’ve got a couple of awards within my team for leadership, performance, as well as side projects involving single-handedly building AI tools for my team. I plan to use this in my SOP to help the professional case.

I’m aiming for a career in M&A advisory at a European desk with the future goal of transitioning into corp development in the automotive/mobility sector. I’m looking at HEC’s MiF and LSE’s MSc Finance as the target programmes for me with both schools’ MiMs with finance specializations as backups. I’m also considering ESSEC and ESCP.

However what I’m concerned with is that my undergrad GPA (BA Economics Honours at a university considered tier 1 by almost every big name business school) was hurt pretty bad with some serious family troubles at home throughout my second year. Though i was able to make a bit of a recovery in my last semester it wasn’t enough. I’ve only got a 6.3/10 with a First Class division during my undergrad.

I’ve tried to make up for that with a GMAT FE score of 695 (Q87, V85, D82). I’ve also got an 8.5 band on the IELTS (equivalent to a C2 English certification).

3 months at a business analyst internship at a Fortune 500 international property management MNC conducting competitive mapping and research exercises.

23 months leading the largest independent student news media organization in the country during my undergraduate.

Also ranked 3rd from 800 teams across the country in a management consultancy case study competition during my undergrad.

If it matters, I had a 95% grade in 12th, with a 99% in math.

Obviously the MiF/MSc Finance would be the ideal programme given my career goals. I am however, concerned about the GPA problem. Would the GMAT, an academic and professional reference (latter being a strong point i think in my application), and a good personal statement be enough to balance out the GPA?

Should I switch my primary focus to the MiM? Is that more attainable for my profile?

Thanks for your advice!

Honestly, I wouldn’t switch to the MiM just because of the GPA. Your overall profile is strong enough to make the MiF/MSc Finance worth targeting. The 695 GMAT, strong work experience, leadership, awards, and M&A exposure all help offset the academic weakness.

I’d make the MiF/MSc Finance your primary targets and use the MiM as a backup. Just make sure your SOP addresses the GPA briefly and focuses much more on the upward trajectory and what you’ve achieved since

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing my INSEAD MiM application and am currently working with my academic and professional recommenders. They have asked me to provide some preliminary guidance and key points.

Does anyone know any reliable resources, sample structures, or advice on what INSEAD values in a strong MiM recommendation letter? Any insights from previous applicants would be greatly appreciated.

Please help me with Profile evaluation for MiM 2027 Intake :
I’m 21F indian.
I am planning to apply for the Master in Management (MiM) 2027 intake at leading European business schools, including HEC Paris, ESSEC, ESCP, INSEAD, LSE, Imperial, SDA, ESADE, IE , and IESE.

Academic Background

- Bachelor’s degree in BSc Information Technology
- Expected CGPA at the time of application: approximately 7.84/10
- I am currently planning to strengthen my academic profile through relevant business coursework.

GMAT

- Target score: 690-700

Work Experience & Internships

- Approximately 3 months of work experience at a startup
- Led and organized several college events, business-focused events and initiatives.
- Participated in the NEC Challenge hosted by IIT Bombay in 2025.
- Planning to complete one additional relevant internship or ngo based internship before submitting my applications.

Areas of Interest

I am particularly interested in pursuing a career in marketing and potentially luxury brand management after completing my MiM.

What I Would Like to Understand

I would appreciate a brief and honest evaluation of my profile regarding:

1. My realistic chances of admission to the universities listed above.
2. How much my relatively low CGPA may affect my application.
3. Whether a GMAT score of 690-700 could significantly strengthen my profile.
4. The most important areas I should improve before applying.
5. Whether gaining additional work experience or internships before applying would improve my chances.
6. Which universities would be reach, target, and relatively safer options for my profile.
7. Or should I apply for 2028 intake with all this experiences.

I would particularly appreciate an honest assessment rather than an overly optimistic evaluation, along with suggestions on how I can make my profile more competitive for the 2027 MiM intake.

That’s the average ! And since 615 is pretty close to classic 680 the average scores are around that( however the upper limit is not defined )

The median could be lower or higher depending on the intake

545-615 means most of the students who got admitted in the last few intakes had scores around that range

And it doesn’t mean 700 didn’t get admitted 😅😅(I just took the median from the brochure)

I wouldn’t guarantee it ! As it depends on a lot of other factors like which round , peer applications but yes 615 is a decent one if other parts of the application are pretty well balanced

(Maybe you won’t get a scholarship)
