Hi everyone
I got an interview invite to Oxford Said, and I was wondering if they reached out to anyone else about a conditional offer. Apparently, I need to retake my GMAT ASAP if I am successful with my interview. I'm a bit concerned as I took my GMAT in 2021, and with such short notice, I don't think I can cram study in a few weeks to achieve a significant point increase in quant. I've also taken and passed several quantitative courses (from HBS) to alleviate any concerns. Any advice?
Also, if anyone is experienced in doing interview prep, please message me! Thanks
natyomatcha Whenever schools express concern about the GMAT to applicants, they are genuinely interested in having those applicants in their cohort. Good for you. You have at least been made aware of how strong your profile is. Congrats.
On the less positive side, the adcoms may also be worried because an MBA is ultimately an analytical and quant-heavy program, and no amount of storytelling can alleviate genuine concerns about whether an applicant with a low GMAT can easily navigate through the rigorous academic courses. It's good if you have already taken up some HBS quantitative courses, but have you discussed or submitted your results/transcripts to Oxford? You should do that at the earliest if you haven't already. If the adcom still insists on the GMAT exam, you may have no other option than to retake it. But do your best to negotiate an offer where the improvement plan is not based solely on the GMAT/GRE exam.
Feel free to seek further advice.
