Distance learning offers a potentially lucrative option for learning institutions. Money that would otherwise be spent on classroom space, parking facilities, climate control, and other particulars associated with providing a location-specific service can be diverted to marketing and quality control two crucial factors that can drive new business.
Which of the following can be correctly inferred from the statements above?
A. The costs associated with offering distance learning are lower than those of other instruction methods.
As per the first line of the passage, money spent by learning institutions on classroom space, parking facilities, climate control, and other particulars can be diverted to marketing and quality control, if they (learning institutions) decide to switch to Distance learning. Here it may be possible that the money spent marketing and quality may be the entire money earlier spent or may be less. But there is nothing definitive in the passage to say that Distance Learning will cost less than learning institutions.
Also the passage only talks about Distance Learning and Learning Institutions. But the Option compares cost associated with Distance Learning with all other Instruction methods ( which may include methods other than learning institutions).
Hence this does not look to be the right answer.
B. Online classes are more convenient for both instructors and students than are classes held at specific geographic locations.
The passage does not talk anything about convenience to instructors/students. Hence this is not correct.
C. Distance learning does not required climate control or parking facilities.
As stated in the passage, that costs pertaining to climate control and parking facilities can be diverted to marketing and quality control. This implies that Distance learning does not require these. This appears to be the right answer.

The passage does not give any information regarding this. Hence this is not correct.

Great question. I boiled it down to A and C within 20 seconds.
With choice C it is easy to miss that here parking and climate control may be referring to two locations - learning institutions and wherever students take these classes. Students may need to drive to a library to attend a session, in this scenario they will need parking and climate control.
Info on parking and climate control from prompt is referring only to learning institutions.
A is correct - money saved from cost cuts on e-learning can be diverted to marketing and quality control. Is it just me or this sounds like an Assumption rather than inference?

In this question, the answer is A. However, the total costs are not mentioned. Just that less money is spent on some items doesn't lead to a lower total cost if other costs are not held the same (not increasing).
