C

Native Americans, with their intimate knowledge of the ecology of the land, helped to rescue

Eliminated D and E because of the ambiguity of modifying phrases "having..."/"knowing"

B over C. C has help + to constrction, which should be wrong.

Clear C.

D & E eliminated, coz of misplaced modifiers.
A & B are too verbose.

Must agree with C.

B is just awkward and verbose.

C. states concisely that the Native American knew the ecology of the land and this helped them to rescue many pilgrims.

I think the correct idiom is "help to rescue" not "help in the rescue of". I not very convinced that the ecology of the land is correct, but I go with C.

It should be ecology of the land, as in the original stmt, instead of ecology and the land.

Not sure about this but I think "viewed" and "helped" are parallel and this is another reason why the answer should be C and not B...

OA is C.

Below is my reasoning.

help in the rescuing/rescue is incorrect . A,B are out.
D,E are out for dangling modifiers.
C wins.
