A it should be
B is out because "that of" is wrong
C is out flanked by is right and comparison is wrong, it should be as wide as
D and e using flanked with and past tense

Ignore the strike part and then read the sentence to get rid of the extra information.

Ebenalp, nestled amongst Appenzeller mountains, is about 1644 metres in height, surrounded by deep gorges, the Santis peak and flanked by a lake, with frozen water, as wide as three to four kilometers.

A. flanked by a lake, with frozen water, as wide as -Correct
B. flanked by a lake with frozen water as wide as that of -frozen water as wide as blah blah doesn't make sense
C. flanked with a lake to a width of -loss of information (no talk of frozen water)
D. was flanked with lake as wide as loss of information (no talk of frozen water)
E. was flanked with lake, with frozen water, as wide as -parallelism error
