Hello Admission Consultants,

Could you please provide an opinion on the applying in R2 for Harvard.

Considering a unique scenario wherein a candidate is unable to apply for R1 and hence, rather than delaying the MBA plans for 1 year, the candidate is willing to apply for R2.

Some specific questions:

1. What should one keep in mind while applying for R2?

2. What are the risks involved?

3. How can one increase the odds of getting selected even in R2?

4. Is there a need to mention the reason for not applying in R1?

5. How important are reco letters? What if the candidate is unable to get from current managers considering the year end appraisals impact?

6. Any additional points you would like to cover?

Also, request all the candidates to continue to add questions on this thread if you have any for the R2 applications for Harvard.

I will continue to tag some good articles for R2 applications as and when I find.

1. That there are more applications coming in than R1

2. Only that you don't have another Round afterwards to adjust your strategy.

3. No different from R1. Have a great application. Great recommendations. And your profile

4. Nah. R2 is a normal round. For R3, yes.

5. Important. If you can't get a rec from a current manager, it's fine, just write why in your application.

5. Nope! the chances in R2 are similar to R1. Only the timing is a bit more of a crunch.
