My last day is mid June, then going to travel and such for two and a half months. I still have two months left but I'm finding it really hard to stay motivated haha, coming in a half hour later than everyone else nowadays.

Motivation is definitely a problem!

Same here, I accepted a new promotion in January and now my motivation is waning rapidly. I don't start until mid-August, so still have three months left (yes I am working until the bitter end).

Yay, finally someone else working til the end! I'm not planning on quitting until early August, which is when the lease expires on my current apartment.

I planned on working more, but literally every alumni and current student told me to take time off to travel/de-stress, and that the slightly higher debt was 100% worth it.

I got the same advice too mgh so I figured around 6 weeks is a good balance between having enough time to decompress but not completely ruining my finances

I am wondering about the same thing. I just accepted new position in early April because I had thought I wouldn't go to MBA program. And then offer came a week later. Now I am still in my probation period and I don't know if I should just quit. I kinda like the new job in which I can learn a lot.

I take it you have been accepted somewhere and put your deposit down? I guess it depends on whether you will have the same opportunities post MBA because it's a big decision to forgo school and stay in your current job. If you are set on going to school this fall, I would be open to your new employer and tell them now. It means you won't burn bridges that may be helpful in the future.

Oh I haven't deposited yet. I am still munching over it. High chance I will go but not 100% sure yet, that is why i keep going. Moreover I really like the new job. I will definitely feel bad when the time come.

Last year, when I thought I was headed to Ross, I put in notice for 7/31. When I got into Booth from the WL, I changed it to 8/15 because the later start allowed me to. This was a TERRIBLE IDEA. Take a month or two to de-compress and travel. Class and recruiting start hot and heavy once you're on campus. Also, if your school offers pre-orientation international trips (Kwest, Random Walk, M-Trek), for the love of g*d, go. Nothing will be more fun.

I thought about leaving in June until I sat in the financial aid (more like students loans) presentation at Duke. I work in a very low paying industry so not much savings built up and need those last few paychecks.

I will quit two weeks before the orientation starts. Not ideal ):

My last day at the company is July 31st, but as of today, I have 27 vacation days left (and I will surely take all of them), so I still have decent time for traveling and relaxing.

Trying to figure out whether or not to travel in between work and school ..

For those who are traveling before starting MBA, what are your traveling plans? Are you traveling alone? I imagine it would be pretty hard to schedule any long trip with friends who still work jobs.

I'm doing week long trips with a variety of friends, and doing a 2 week trip with my girlfriend. A few people I met are doing cool things, like volunteering in Africa for a few months.

Heading anywhere nice mgh?

I have a week long trip planned otherwise just doing a bunch of weekend trips to see friends and family.

Looking like Cancun, Grenada, and road trip will be Colorado, Las Vegas, LA, SF, and Seattle. Trying to do things cheaply, so nothing too crazy unlike previous years - after my Egypt Kenya trip, I think I just want something relaxing anyways haha.

realllllyyyyy wish i would have known more about gmatclub during my application process (but knowing me i probably would have become way too distracted). this is my first post :) and i'm heading to Cambridge and struggling with this exact topic. i've decided to stay until August  but the days are DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGING and i'm considering moving that date up so i can take time to focus on myself and enjoy my city before i leave for a year.

::sigh:: BUT this is a wonderful dilemma to be in

July 31st is my last day...88 days from today. I wish i could quit earlier. I have zero motivation at work. I have become a zombie, a purposeless drone.
