Congratulations! This is a tough one, I wish I could straight off the bat sway you towards foster.

Our consulting successes in MBB are recent and on the uptick, with a ton of first years going to great firms for their internships and I expect even more next year. PM in tech wise, Foster has great success in this space and I'm sure you know of that.

Anything specific that we can help you evaluate?

Also, I must say: a full ride at Foster is RARE (we are generous, but I rarely hear of us being thaaaat generous) and I'm in awe, well done!

I had a full ride from Foster and very measly $ from Ross. I wanted to get into PM roles and I picked Ross. If you are dead-set on MBB pick Ross. If you think you could be just as happy doing PM things and money is important to you, pick Foster.

Having had admits to both of your schools, I am happy to answer other questions. For consulting recruiting, you'd definitely want to go to Ross. If you want to work for Amazon, Microsoft as a PM/PMM I would still vote on Ross's favor.

Thank you all for your responses.

I am pretty set on consulting.

I want to explore entrepreneurship as well.

Does anyone know how the two schools compare in entrepreneurship?

If you are set on consulting , then Ross is much better school. Foster has pretty strong advantage on the entrepreneurship as the local community in Seattle is easily accessible through various initiatives at the school (entrepreneurship club, Tech club etc). There are some local VC firms as well that talk about the experience of investing in Seattle tech startups.

In my experience, location of Foster would give you a big advantage as compared to Ross. Also, remember the ROI on your MBA.

I think in this situation - before you decide on the school (and if you’re picking a school based on consulting hiring) - I would recommend to think through why you want to work in consulting after your MBA.

People move to the industry after consulting, so if you can go straight to industry by getting an MBA at Foster, it wouldn’t be a bad choice. Also, assuming that you’ll work in consulting for three years and quit to get a director role-you’ll be in director role even after working in the industry for three years. You’ll be paid the same amount either ways.

Think through it-consulting sounds fashionable and cool, but is it worth the $ spent and the career transitions? I ask that because I was in consulting myself

I have a feeling it will be a little harder to find a traditional MBA role being a little older and if you are entrepreneurial then you either butt heads in the interviews OR you will network amazingly without too much pool on the school side.

I voted for Foster which is not suited for consulting recruiting but I’m not sure you will want to be recruiting with a bunch of 26-year-olds and then work for a 29-year-old. And my guess is the 29-year-old will not want to hire you. So there you go.

Anyone wants to chime in about the older applicant recruiting for consulting? I don’t have a lot of support for my theory beside a a few general gripes from older guys.
