Hello Everyone,
During the R1 cycle, I have been fortunate enough to have admits from Fuqua ( ~20% scholarship ) and Tepper ( ~60% scholarship ) and am currently would like to have thoughts on which one to pick.
Post MBA Goals: Primary focus is to get into Product Management into one of the FAANG, but I am flexible would like to go the program with an open mind about other career choices.
My main question to everyone here would be to is it better to be big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond? I computed the cost of attendence for myself at both the colleges and Fuqua would be about $90k expensive compared to Tepper.

Duke Brand Name ( "I studied from Duke" has a nice ring to it )
Great Placement for Tech and Consulting
Cost of living in Durham is high
Tuition costs are high
Tepper
CMU Brand Name
Great Placements for Tech
Not so great recruiting for Consulting
Pittsburgh is really cheap
Tuition is cheap ( ~10k cheaper than Fuqua )

Congratulations on your admits and hard work paying off!
I think you would definitely have more opportunities and options with Fuqua, esp MBB but I feel for tech, Tepper does fairly well. I think this type of information can only come from the current students at Tepper. Perhaps jumsumtak has thoughts about Fuqua.

good job on the admits! congrats.
I will keep it as succinct as possible -
1.) fuqua - better brand + more opportunities in both consulting and tech
2) from my conversations with recent tepper grads - placements in consulting and tech are good, but not great. Also, supply<<demand for top roles/companies. I will let someone from Tepper to chime in with their experience as my knowledge is derived from only 2-3 data points.
3) IMO - big pond is better than small pond
Networking is a very teadious business. You will need all the help and resources. Simply put, at Fuqua you would have more opportunities with less leg work.
Final decision depends on your personal situation. Do you value 90k a lot? can’t make a decision for you as it is a subjective call - is 90k>better opportunities? Personally, I don’t think so. But, can understand if others think differently.
One no lose move you should definitely do - negotiate with fuqua for a higher scholarship.
