General: The troops deployed on the battlefield have to be in perfect physical condition because even minor physical weaknesses may be exploited by the enemy by launching surprise attack. Troops of fourth battalion are not vulnerable to such attacks as they train regularly in the cantonment gymnasiums.
The conclusion of the general is based which of the following assumption?
A. Troops who are not in perfect physical shape are routinely attacked by the enemy
B. Fourth battalion has had 10 tours of duty and has never been attacked by the enemy
C. Cantonment gymnasiums are completely equipped to provide the army with perfect physical condition
D. Some soldiers of fourth battalion include firearms training in gym sessions
E. Regular training in cantonment gymnasiums guarantees perfect physical condition
One tip I got from an expert was to use the NEGATION TEST for assumption questions.
For those who do not know the negation, what you do is that “take all answer options and turn them into opposites”
Like
A) Troops who are not in perfect physical shape are routinely attacked by the enemy
This will become
> Troops who are in perfect physical shape are routinely attacked by the enemy.
Now if this makes the conclusion invalid (which it does not) this is our answer.
Do the same with all answer options.
For C: Cantonment gymnasiums are NOT completely equipped to provide the army with perfect physical condition
Does this make the conclusion, “Troops of fourth battalion are not vulnerable to such attacks as they train regularly in the cantonment gymnasiums” invalid?
If the gymnasium isn’t equipped that doesn’t mean the Troops are not in perfect physical conditions.
For option E
Regular training in cantonment gymnasiums DOES NOT guarantees perfect physical
condition.
Yes this invalidates the conclusion and therefore its the answer. It’s more direct than C and better negates the conclusion if wrong
Hence answer is E
I really hope this helps, please leave a Kudos if it does.
