There is no fixed rule, any polygon can be covered. You might want to focus on the ones you find tough for yourself.

Which polygons are most common?

I'd say that triangles are tested more than any other polygons. Then come various kinds of quadrilaterals: squares, rectangles, parallelograms, ...
