HI,
I just took a Kaplan free full length CAT. I ran out of time doing quant, so last few questions, I couldn't devote much time, as I am giving CAT after good 5 months. So, find below my stats for that test:
690 Score, Quant 47, Verbal 37, But I really don't know how, as I got a lot of questions wrong (in QUANT specifically). Something wrong with Kaplan CAT?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Regards,

Hello
neha19,
Its hard to determine how the score is actually calculated by the Test Prep companies or even Official GMAT exam for that matter.
However, there are multiple factors which are responsible for your score:
1. How many questions in a row you are getting wrong
2. The questions you got wrong were they experimental questions (I am taking from real GMAT, where they say 20-25% questions are experimental questions) and hence getting them wrong will not impact your score.
3. Where you are getting the questions wrong? Is it in the beginning, or middle or at the end of the test.
4. Leaving a question un-answered attracts heavy penalty on GMAT exam, not sure if Kaplan does the same way too.
Having said that, please note that no test prep company can accurately provide a good prediction of your score. Nothing comes closer to Official GMAT Prep software to predict your score.
So, your next question would be why should I even attempt these mocs? And the answer is stamina building. GMAT is the test of endurance, and it is important to practice to sit for 4 hours and answer those grueling questions. Your brain is really put into test for these 4 Hours.
Also, I am not saying that score will not matter, however, I will not rely too much on these moc scores.
Hope this helps, if not please feel free to shoot specific questions on this.
Did you like the answer, Kudos Please!
