Let gallery C= folks only
then A and B will be in gallery B now B can contain one more which can be E or C or D
now E and C cannot be together
Let B has A,B,C then A=E,D only and C has F only but we do not have such options.
Let B has A,B,D then A will have E or C not both as they cannot be together and C will have F and either E or C.
According to the options , A will have E only and C will have clubist and folk

Exactly three types of artwork are showcased in Gallery B.
The Baroque and Abstract artworks are displayed together in the same gallery, but not in Gallery C.
The Cubist artwork is displayed in a different gallery from the Expressionist artwork.
The Folk artwork is displayed in Gallery C.

Lets analyze options
a. Cubist, Folk, and Digital only
b. Cubist and Folk only
c. Cubist only
d. Baroque and Abstract only
e. Expressionist Only
f. Folk Only

Gallery C has Folk artwork
So Gallery C can have option a, b & c.
However option a is not possible as Gallery B has three types of art work and each Gallery have different artwork and have atleast one artwork
So if Gallery C will have 3 then Gallery A will not have any.

Statement 1 So Gallery C will have either Cubist and Folk only or Folk only

Suppose Baroque and Abstract are in Gallery A

Then Gallery B will have Cubist , Expressionist and Digital which is not possible as Cubist and expressionist can't be on same Gallery. Baroque and Abstract can't be in Gallery A

Statement 2 Thus Baroque and Abstract will be in Gallery B.

Now for Gallery A option a,b,d,f are not possible.

Statement 3 Gallery A can have option c (Cubist only) or option e(Expressionist only) as possible.

Now Suppose Gallery C will have Folk only option

Then Gallery A will have Cubist & digital only, which is not possible.

Hence from statement 1 as above, Gallery C will have Cubist & Folk only.

From statement 3, Gallery A will have Expressionist only.

From the question we know that Gallery B has the highest artwork showcases which is 3, it is also given that Gallery C is displaying Folk artwork and each of the 3 galleries are displaying atleast 1 artwork.

So from this information we can conclude that Gallery A&C are showcasing 3 artworks combined. Further it is mentioned that Cubist is displayed separately from from Expressionist and Baroque & Abstract artworks are displayed together.

So from all these information we can easily eliminate option 'A'.

Now we have 2 choices (Option B&F) for Gallery C as only these two have Folk artwork mentioned in them.
And, we have 3 choices (Option C,D&E) for Gallery A.

So we can have a total of 6 combinations from here. So lets check each of the options and eliminate the incorrect ones to get the correct answer.

First lets eliminate the easier ones which will be the combination of option "B&D', 'C&F' & 'E&F' because from here we will that Gallery B will either showcase 2 artwork or 4, which is wrong as per the given condition " that Gallery B has the highest artwork showcases which is 3".

Now if you see we can also eliminate the combination of option 'B&C' because it also ignores the condition that each artwork must be displayed only in one Gallery.

So now as we are to our last 2 combination i.e. Option 'B&E' or Option 'F&D'. Here if we observe carefully we can easily eliminate the combination of Option 'F&D' because if Folk, Baroque & Abstract are showcased at Gallery A&C then Gallery B will be showcasing Cubist, Digital & Expressionist which will be incorrect as in the condition mentioned in the question it has already told us that Cubist & Expressionist can not be showcased together.

From here we only have one pair of options left with us i.e. Option 'B' for Gallery 'C' & Option 'E' for Gallery 'A'.

The following rules apply:

  • Exactly three types of artwork are showcased in Gallery B.
  • The Baroque and Abstract artworks are displayed together in the same gallery, but not in Gallery C.
  • The Cubist artwork is displayed in a different gallery from the Expressionist artwork.
  • The Folk artwork is displayed in Gallery C.

Select for Gallery A the set of artwork types displayed in Gallery A, and select for Gallery C the set of artwork types displayed in Gallery C, such that the two selections, from among the given options, would be jointly consistent with the information provided. Let A,B,C,D,E,F be the different artworks to be kept in A,B,C gallery.

Since B has 3 artworks, the other two will have 2 and 1 artworks in any order.

Given the conditions present in the stem, the following are the possible arrangements in A, B, and C respectively (in that order)

D E/C A B C/E F
D A B C/E F E/C
E/C A B C/E F D
E/C A B D F C/E

Scanning the options for the possible answers, we see that the last arrangement can be fitted.

Gallery A can contain E only and in the case, Gallery C can contain F and C

Therefore, Gallery A = Expressionist Only and Gallery C = Cubist and Folk only

If you look at the conditions here, it says 3 at B, folk is at c, I ran into the options straight, after reading the constraints, plugging in every option given, folk is to be fixed at c, and it cant be alone , as there isnt any option satisfying A. Taking it with c, ba has to be at B ALONG with one other, e cant be along, as for A, only D, is no option, try putting bad at B, e only at A, and Voila! It satisfies all the constraints.

We have 6 total artworks, and three galleries
Gallery A: (1 or 2 artworks)
Gallery B: (given 3 artworks)
Gallery C: (2 or 1 artworks) Folk artwork
Baroque and Abstract artworks could be in gallery B along with another artwork, or in gallery A.
Option 1: Cubist, Folk and Digital only: Wrong option because neither Gallery A nor Galley C can display 3 artworks
Option 2: Cubist and Folk only: hold it for consideration for Gallery C, but in this case Gallery A can have only 1 artwork
Option 3: Cubist only: not for gallery C, gallery C will have folk artwork
Option 4: Baroque and Abstract only: hold it for consideration for gallery A, this option will work if gallery C has Folk only
Option 5: Expressionist only: hold it for A
Option 6: Folk only: hold it for Gallery C

Best Fit: Cubist and Folk only for Gallery C, and Expressionist only for Gallery A
The other possible choice of Folk only for Gallery C and Baroque and Abstract only for Gallery A will not work because then We will be left with Digital, Cubist and Expressionist for Gallery B, but its Given that Cubist is displayed in a different Gallery than Expressionist.
Gallery A: option E
Gallery C: option B

Exactly three types of artwork are showcased in Gallery B.
The Baroque and Abstract artworks are displayed together in the same gallery, but not in Gallery C. -(AB artworks can be in gallery A or Gallery B only)
The Cubist artwork is displayed in a different gallery from the Expressionist artwork. -(C and E artwork are in different gallery.)
The Folk artwork is displayed in Gallery C.

-(So, if AB is in A Gallery, then CDE have to be in Gallery B, which is not possible. Hence, AB artwork is in Gallery B.)

Gallery A:
Gallery B: 3 types- AB
Gallery C: F
We have 3 artworks remaining CDE
Lets look at the options
*Cubist, Folk, and Digital only..... If they are in C or A, then the given requirements won’t be fulfilled (B will only have 2 artworks, it must have 3 artworks)
*Cubist and Folk only ( A- D/DE/E & B- ABE/ABD & C-CF) could be the answer for C
*Cubist only (A-C & B- ABD/ABE & C- FE/FD) .......could be answer for A but we don’t have the matching answer for C in options.....Rejected
*Baroque and Abstract only.....(They are in B)
*Expressionist Only.....Matches the explanation for Option 2, could be answer for A Gallery
*Folk Only.....(It is in C gallery)

Gallery A= E only
Gallery C= C and F only

As exactly 3 type of artwork are showcased in Gallery B so Gallery A will have 1 or 2 artwork and so do Gallery B. We can eliminate Answer 1
Based on the answers, we have 2 scenarios,
1/ Gallery A: Baroque and Abstract only, Gallery C: Folk only => matched with the rules, but Gallery A will have: Cubist, Digital, Expressionist => cannot. So eliminate this scenario.
2/ Gallery A: Expressionist only, Gallery C: Cubist and Folk only, then Gallery A: Abstract, Baroque and Digital. All matched with the requirement.

The answer is Gallery A: Expressionist Gallery
Gallery C : - Folk and cubist

Based on the conditions , lets put Abstract and Baroque in gallery B and Folk in gallery C.
Then if all cubist and digital and expressionist cant go into one gallery .
Hence , if we put cubist in Gallery C ,
gallery A should have expressionist only.

From the given constraints,
1. Abstract and Baroque have to be displayed in Gallery B, because Gallery B has to have 3 artworks, and we can't separate Abstract and Baroque. Also, if we don't display Abstract and Baroque in B, for B we will be left with Cubist, Digital, and Expressionist, but here again, Cubist cannot be displayed together with Expressionist. For the third artwork, we will take either Cubist or Digital, or Expressionist.
2. Of the remaining 2, we will display them in Gallery A or Gallery C. So, Gallery A and Gallery C can have a maximum of two and a minimum of one artwork(s).

Now, from the options
Let's check for Gallery A
  • Cubist, Folk, and Digital only - Not possible as it can have a maximum of 2 artworks only.
  • Cubist and Folk only - Not possible because Folk is displayed in Gallery C
  • Cubist only - This is possible, considering Expressionist is displayed in Gallery B/C and Digital in Gallery B/C
  • Baroque and Abstract only - Not possible, as they are displayed in Gallery B
  • Expressionist Only - This is possible, considering Cubist is displayed in Gallery B/C and Digital in Gallery B/C
  • Folk Only - Not possible as Folk is displayed in Gallery C

Of these two possible options for Gallery A, which are Cubist only and Expressionist only, we have to find the corresponding possibilities for Gallery C.
If we take Cubist only, then for Gallery C, we will have Folk and Expressionist or Digital, but we don't have any of these two options.
If we take Expressionist only, then for Gallery C, we will have Folk and Cubist or Digital, and we have an option which is Cubist and Folk only.

Hence, for Gallery A - Expressionist only and
for Gallery C - Cubist and Folk only

Let's say the art works are a,b,c,d,e and f.
The three sections be A,B and C.

"Each artwork type is displayed in exactly one gallery," => no duplication or partition of art works - unique.
"and no gallery is empty" => atleast one art work per galleries A,B and C.

From the given rules:
A BC
exactly 3
a&b

Also, c & e in different Galleries.

We can deduct that a&b cannot come in gallery A. Because if so, then a&b and f are already taken to A and C galleries respectively and the remaining are c,d,e which cannot be together due to c & e should be in different galleries condition.

So, all the above constraints will helps us find the possible arrangements more easily now.
Utilize the given answer options also when jotting down possible arrangements.
That way we can come to the below arrangement pretty fast:

ABC
d,e/ca,b,c/ef,c
Even though couple of other arrangements are possible, those are not provided in the answer choices.
