Just think logically. All other options are either weakening the argument or just not related.

Selecting for option 1 -

The first two sentence preceding hints that the statement as option 1 should provide a solution to the issue discussed earlier. Further next sentence to option 1 hints at implementation of a solution other than traditional printed case studies ( evident from the word 'although' which bring a contrast to the preceding information)

Considering the above, and scanning the option, first three surely corresponds to solution being discussed for option 1, further only option 3 in first column is in line with the pre-thinking.

Selecting for option 2-

The word ''Furthermore' before the starting of option 2 hints that whatever comes next should be in continuation and in addition/support to the preceding statement. Out of last 3 option choices, only option 5 does this, option 4 do adds some info but the info is in conflict with earlier statement(i.e., online casebooks are not the most cost-effective solution)

Also combing option 3 for first column and option 5 for 2nd column makes overall sense.

From checking the given options, we can go forward with following options as

c-we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations:
This statement addresses the problem of outdated materials by proposing a modern, engaging alternative that is also "better tailored to modern leadership needs." This aligns perfectly with the manager's line of thought.

e-when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks:
This statement addresses the cost concern raised in the previous option by arguing for long-term value despite higher initial cost. This strengthens the argument for online simulations, which is consistent with the manager's overall tone.

Therefore

blank 1 - c- we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

blank 2 - e-when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

Premise: The leadership training sessions have received poor feedback.
Premise: A major issue is that case study materials are outdated and don't reflect current business challenges.
Premise: Traditional printed casebooks are less expensive upfront than alternatives.
Premise: Interactive online simulations are more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs.
The manager is building an argument about how to improve the training sessions. We need to select statements that create a coherent, strong argument.
For Statement 1, we need a conclusion that follows from the premises about poor feedback and outdated materíals. The logical solution would be to replace the outdated materials with something more current and relevant.
For Statement 2, we need something that addresses the cost concern raised in the argument while supporting whatever solution is proposed in Statement 1.
The best selections are:
Statement 1: "we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations"
This directly addresses the problem of outdated materials and aligns with the premise that online simulations are more engaging and better tailored to moder leadership needs.
Statement 2: "when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long term value than printed casebooks"
This strengthens the argument by addressing the cost concern. While the manager acknowledges that printed casebooks are less expensive upfront, this statement provides justification for the higher initial investment by pointing to better long-term value.
Together, these statements create a coherent argument that acknowledges the problem, proposes a solution, and justifies that solution despite potential cost concern

Blank 1 should be a suggestion related to moving away from the current case study materials and blank 2 most likely seems to be an added support in favour of the move, just like the statement before it.

Most logical answers are:
1: we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations
2: when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

From the article, let's break it down:

First point:
We can tell from "interactive online simulations are far more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs" that the author recommends using interactive online simulations.

Second point:
Based on the author's tone in the article, we should look for positive, agreeing views. Let's check the options:

"Online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution" - This conflicts with the info in the article because online casebooks are expensive.

Next,
"When factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks" - This is correct because it's positive and supports the author's approach.

Lastly,
"While the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense" - This is wrong at the end because if the cost is unreasonable, it conflicts with the author's support.

Answer:
We should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations.

When factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks.

Here in the first fill in the blank, its understood we need to choose an option that goes against the old case study books. Also in the next line it mentions interactive online. So we need to find an option that supports this idea and option 'We should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations' seems suitable.

For the second fill in the blank,it starts with furthermore which means the fill in the blank is trying to support whatever was said before which is about interactive online simulations.

"Online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution" - this is not the right one,its praising Online casebook.
"When factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebook" -this looks good,it praises online simulations
"While the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense"-looks bad, because it goes against online simulations

So the answers are
For fill in the blanks 1-We should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations seems suitable
For fill in the blanks 2-When factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebook

Since blank 1 must be in the form of a suggestion, we can consider the first three options. Among those options, the first two options do not fit the blank as the right answer must lean towards replacing the older case studies with something newer that would be appreciated by the participants. Therefore, 'we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations' fits well in blank 2

Blank 2 is suggesting another advantage of interactive online simulations despite not being very cost effective. From the last three options, we can see that 'when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks' offers another advantage of online simulations and hence, remains our answer.

1 - we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

2 - when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

Therefore, I suggest that ____1____. Although traditional printed casebooks are less expensive upfront than many alternatives (such as updated e-books), interactive online simulations are far more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs. Furthermore, ____2____.

The sentence between (1)&(2) blanks suggests that something positively related to online simulations will come in blank 1 and something that further provides support to online simulations will come in blank 2. Check the answer choices ....

1. we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies.......No
2. we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly....No
3. we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations.....Goes with our pre-thinking for 1 ...........Blank 1
4. online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution.....No
5. when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks (describe positive aspect of Online Simulation, goes with our prethinking for 2) ........Blank 2
6. while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense......No

The leadership training has received poor feedback due to its outdated curriculum . Hence it is suggested to opt for online interactive simulations rather than going for traditional printed text books. Printed text books are less expensive but still they fetch results of a better performance of employees which will provide a better annual feedback next time.

The other options doesn’t not support the facts to come to a conclusion .
