clearly the 1st and 2nd options are not going to set into the structure as we need something which supports the idea of substituting or replace the old material,
where choice 3 fits in fine for answer 1. as it says about an alternative.

for answer 2, last 2 options seem to be a close,
but i think choice 5 is better as choice 6 talks about return on investment which is not the primary area of concern.

Manager: Our company's annual leadership training sessions have recently received poor feedback. A major issue seems to be that the case study materials we use are outdated and no longer reflect current business challenges. Therefore, I suggest that ____1____. Although traditional printed casebooks are less expensive upfront than many alternatives (such as updated e-books), interactive online simulations are far more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs. Furthermore, ____2____.

Select for Statement 1 and for Statement 2 the two sentences that best complete the argument. Make only two selections, one in each column.

For the first blank, we have 3 options
we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies
old case studies are outdated, not right
we should continue using the printed casebooks, but update them slightly
update them slightly, will not resolve the problem
we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations
Correct ans, as a new alternative for more engagement

Second, it starts with furthermore, meaning we need additional information for the online simulation, then
Online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution
not strengthening the online simulation
When factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks
additional information which is strengthening that it is the right solution
while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense

The statements before ____1_____ speaks about how the case study materials used are outdated. But the statement after it speaks contrasting printed casebooks and online simulations. This feels like substantiating the point made before hence select " we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations " for ___1___ as it connects clearly. Now Furthermore is used before ______2_____, hence it should another supporting point to say why online simulations is better. Looking at options, " when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks ", This fits better, Furthermore, the statement before says it is upfront expensive but this speaks about long term value. Hence this fits much more.

Statement 1: The line following Statement 1, talks about how interactive online simulations are far more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs. Therefore preceding statement should introduce online simulations as an alternative option. Therefore, statement 1 should be " we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations "

Statement 2: It starts with transition keyword "Furthermore", which indicates it should provide further support for online simulations. Therefore, statement 2 should be " when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks"

IMO Answer 1 is: we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

Answer 2 is : when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

Manager: Our company's annual leadership training sessions have recently received poor feedback. A major issue seems to be that the case study materials we use are outdated and no longer reflect current business challenges. Therefore, I suggest that (Inserting my answer choice) we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations.

This choice fits perfectly with the given stem.

Although traditional printed casebooks are less expensive upfront than many alternatives (such as updated e-books), interactive online simulations are far more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs. Furthermore, ____2____.
The sentence before the blank starts with furthermore and that's additional premise marker. Let's insert answer choice: Furthermore, when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks- this fits perfectly and hence it is our answer.

1. "we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations" is the most logical suggestion given the problem (outdated materials) and the manager's subsequent praise for online simulations ("far more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs"). The other options either maintain the outdated format or don't fully address the core issue of outdated content in a forward-thinking way.

2. "when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks" directly supports the argument for switching to online simulations by addressing the cost concern raised in the preceding sentence ("less expensive upfront"). It argues that despite higher initial cost, the long-term benefits (improved performance) make online simulations a superior investment. The option "while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense" contradicts the manager's overall positive stance on simulations.

Lucas

Blank 1 :
Option 3 we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations.
Matches perfectly with managers recommendation and fits perfectly with the immediate following sentence comparing online simulation to printed books. Other options are irrelevant and doesn't fit.

Blank 2:
Option 5 when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks
Best fit as it supports higher investment with better results

Option C for (1) and Option E for (2) are the correct answers

Lets understand how we get to out answers and what exactly was the question asking us.

So question starts with the Manager telling as that "the company leadership training session are receiving poor feedbacks" and then he goes on to tell us a major reason for this poor feedback which is the company's usage of outdated study material which no longer reflect on current business challenges. Then a suggestion is given from his side, then he goes on to tell that it is more expensive than current 'traditional printed books' however he thinks that online stimulation is better than tradition printed books as they are far more better and engaging to tailor modern leadership needs. Then the passage ends with him telling further positive feedback for online stimulation.

Now all of you must be think like "ok we understand for (1) it is clear he is suggesting something but how can you say that for (2) he is saying something positive only not negative". So to understand this line of reasoning we should focus on the information and word - 'Further' mention just before (2). And after checking this we can tell that first of all the information which he was telling was all related to the benefits of online stimulation and the word - 'Further' basically means adding something for some information to the already online context/content.

Now lets move forward as we have understand all the information mentioned in the passage and what need to be answered in order to answer the question.

Option A: "We should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies". This option is very easy to eliminate because as we have understood above the Manger himself is admitting that the major issue due to which they are getting the poor feedback is due to studying old cases. So he will not suggest to increase the old case studies which are the primary reasoning for the current problem at hand. Eliminated

Option B: "We should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly". Same as the first one the Manger himself said outdated and let suppose even if we do slight changes in it that will not resolve the existing problem at hand and as the manager is talking addressing/solving this problem so this can not be our answer. Eliminated

Option C: "We should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations". If you look at this statement it most logically completes the (1) part of the passage because in that part of the passage the Manager is talking about ideas or initiatives to address the problem of 'poor feedback caused by using traditional printed casebooks which contains old/outdated business cases'. But lets not finalize it and check for other options as well. Selected for (1)

Option D: "Online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution". After reading this option its seems a bit tempting but if we cross check it with the information mentioned in the passage that "traditional printed casebooks are less expensive upfront than many alternatives (such as updated e-books)" then we can see that both the information contradict each other so it can not be our answer. Eliminated

Option E: "When factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks". This statement is looking very good to answer the question but we two empty space to fill so lets check in which empty blank it will work the best. So after carefully reading the information we can say that it can not be the answer for (1) as it directly starts with factoring the performance of employees which would be incorrect as per the sentence formation because without any background context or information we can not directly conclude that it will help in improving performance of the employees. So this option will be the best fit for (2) because if it is mentioned in that place then we will have some information about it from (1) and from passage as well as it will also fits correct with the last line of the passage. Selected for (2)

Option F: "While the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense". As the reason for Option E this statement will also not quality for (1) so lets check for (2) if it is a better statement than Option E or not. So after reading this statement we can say that it is going in the negative direct of implementing online simulation which we already discussed at the starting that except for the expenses the Manager have only positive thinks to say about the online stimulation. So Eliminated

Background:
Outdated materials -> poor feedback
Counter-evidence for suggestion:
"upfront" $ printed casebook < $ alternatives
Evidence for suggestion:
(Engagement, # of leadership needs met)online simulation > (...)printed
Implication based on Evidence:
Statement 1: Manager will suggest the online simulation format
Statement 2: Manager will offer additional evidence for the online simulation format

Rationale for Answers: Statement 1; Statement 2
1 no mention of supplementary lectures; not evidence
2 How does this help engagement?; not evidence
3 YES; not evidence
4 not a suggestion; He said printed is cheaper, and he never defined "cost-effective"
5 not a suggestion; This provides evidence to justify its use over the cheaper "up front" option currently in use
6 not a suggestion; This provides counter-evidence to his suggestion

Select for Statement 1 and for Statement 2 the two sentences that best complete the argument. Make only two selections, one in each column.
Blank 1

Concern : The books are outdated and no longer current business challenges.

Suggestion has to address this concern.

The next line starts with Although, which means, the author doesn't suggest printed books.

we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies

No, eliminate.

we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly

No, this cannot hold true

we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

This is the right answer

online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution
when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks
while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense

Blank 2

Something that more value to the one described in the previous sentences

we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies

Eliminate. Option doesn't refer to creation of additional value.

we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly

Eliminate. Option doesn't refer to creation of additional value.

we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

Eliminate. Option doesn't refer to creation of additional value.

online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution

Eliminate. Option doesn't refer to creation of additional value.

when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

This is correct as this option talks about value.

while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense

Answers

(1) - we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

(2) - when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

Statement 1: we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations
Statement 2: when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

why:
The manager’s fix must tackle the outdated material, so swapping in interactive simulations (not just tweaking old books) fits best.

After noting the higher upfront cost, the “furthermore” clause should show they pay off—i.e., long-term value driven by better performance.

We should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

The Second Statement should provide more reasons why the new materials are better than the old ones. The only Option is this one:

When factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebook

1st blank should be something which author suggests, and we should also keep in mind that, author continues with hinting that his preference is something electronic and not traditional printed casebooks, although they are less expensive upfront.

So "we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations" suits best for this purpose.

For 2nd blank we should support author's assertion that some electronic media is better than traditional handbook even though electronic media might be expensive upfront

So "when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks" explains that long term benefit of electronic media outweighs the short-term expense of it.

"we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies"
It does not help in any field. In the first option, if the cases no longer reflect business challenges, it is not useful to explain the cases.

"we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly"
For (1) it sounds weak, but "wel... Ok" if we do not have any better option. But, looking at space (2) we see that it would not be correct.

"we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations"
This attends very well the idea presented in (1) and fit what will be presentes in the sentence for (2). So, this is correct for space (1).

"online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution"
Ok, nice information, but doesn't fits the second space.

"when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks"
That one fits very well in the space (2) and fit with the (1) selected. So, this is correct for space (2).

"while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense"
That one goes against the main idea.

Correct Answer: Blank 1. we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations
Blank 2. when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better
long-term value than printed casebooks
For Blank 1.

we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies- doesn't solve the outdated problem

we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly- this is slight change, in near future might chances of more simulation

we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations- this directly address the issue discussed with outdated material and need for online simulation.

For Blank 2.
online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution- doesn’t have connection with simulation or improvements.

when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks- this statements directly connects with simulation and suggest benefit in future of online simulation.

while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense- it is contradictory statement

The third Sentence strongly suggests that blank 1 suggests something about "online simulations". In that case, blank 2 should give further benefits of "online simulations".

Answer: Blank 1 = we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations
Blank 2 = when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks
