Our company's annual leadership training sessions have recently received poor feedback.
A major issue seems to be that the case study materials we use are outdated
No longer reflect current business challenges

Therefore Manager wants to suggest a change in case study materials

Traditional printed casebooks are less expensive upfront than many alternatives (such as updated e-books)
Interactive online simulations are far more engaging and better tailored to modern leadership needs.

So despite upfront cost, manager wants to do some changes to case study materials

For 1:
we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies
This does not say anything about changes in material

we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly
Slight updating will not change the materials significantly and make any difference

we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations
Yes doing this will change the material

For 2:
online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution
This contradicts with point of online simulations being more expensive upfront

when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks
This shows why manager is saying that it is worth spending more -> because it is better valued in long run

So this is correct for 2

The argument is that the current materials are outdated and not engaging. The manager suggests a switch to something more modern and engaging—interactive online simulations—so option 3 is the best fit for statement 1.

These should be the two options

As we understand, the "although" in the leading sentence makes us believe that the previous sentence should be some comparison between printed casebooks and interactive online simulations. 1 captures that perfectly

Moreover, the next sentence talk about the "advantages" of the simulations despite being costly. Option'2' fits in perfectly with "furthermore" to explain more benefits

So if we read the argument we know 1 should be something which is should be replacement of books and something related to online simulations. and 2 should be more information or why it should be preferred on the tool that we mentioned in 1

lets see the options=>

A.we should add supplementary lectures to explain the old case studies => No as per our analysis the line just after 1 is not indicating in this direction so not the ans
B.we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly => again the big Although is giving away that the tool that we mentioned is 1 is actually replacing the printed casebooks so not the ans

C.we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations => Yes this is inline with our reasoning. so lets keep this for 1

D.online casebooks remain the most cost-effective solution => Here whether they remain effective or not is not in the center or argument we are in comparison mode so not the ans.

E.when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks => Yes this can be more information on 1 and is inline with 1 so lets keep this as 2

F.while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense => this goes against what we are trying to propose. this says online simulations are not that good as outcome does not justify the expense so not the ans.

We need to understand the context to answer this question, So For Blank 1 : Manager want to propose some alternative to the old study material and B cases..

Out of the option we have the best one is we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations, The other possible choice for this could be we should continue using the printed casebooks but update them slightly ( But this is wrong because it weakens the problem he want to solve). Hence C is the best choice.


For blank 2, Need to share some other advantage of using online material, Only this is the best choice when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks.

Hence IMOs 1)we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations,
2) when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks.

(1) should be related to printed book which mentioned in the last sentence and related to interactive online simulations as mention is the next sentence => we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations
(2) should adding support the last sentence => another advantage of interactive online simulations => when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks

Manager mentions the company’s annual leadership Training sessions have Recently received poor feedback. They find the reason for such poor feedbacks, they narrow down to CASE STUDY MATERIALS - outdated and no longer reflect current business challenges. There fore I suggest that ____________ ( Blank 1).

Blank 1 should reflect that the case study materials reflect the new trends and reflect current business challenges. But, the next line, makes a comparison between printed books vs E-books. So, blank 1 should throw some light on the comparative aspect between those two.

The option which matches this perspective is Option C - we should replace the printed casebooks with interactive online simulations

Now, they say printed text books are LESS EXPENSIVE Upfront ( to be paid in advance ) than e books. That’s the advance amount to be paid for getting a printed book is less expensive than ebooks or other alternatives. The manager further states the advantages of the interactive book- which is both far more engaging as well as tailored to meet current business needs.

Clearly, interactive books has a greater advantage than the traditional books. FURTHERMORE , ________ ( Blank 2)

Furthermore - denotes there is some additional information in the tone of the earlier statement.

Two statements seems to be the strong contender for option 2.

This statement mentions a positive aspect of online interactive simulations and their long term benefits. Which seems as a good option for blank 2. The statement adds value to the enrichment of employees performances.


and

while the initial cost of online simulations is higher, the return on investment through improved training outcomes does not justify the expense.

It starts mentioning the initial cost higher than traditional books, the RoI does NOT JUSTIFY the expense. So, the expense which u make is not fruitful to the cause. Which is on the negative tone compared to the earlier statement.

Hence the best suited answer for blank 2 is Option E - when factoring in employee performance improvements, online simulations offer better long-term value than printed casebooks.
