Re: GMAT Club's Reading Comprehension (RC) Quiz-I 2023 [#permalink]
Do I have to post detailed explanations to be considered eligible for even the last prize? :)
Just asking because I see that 5 people have attempted these passages and the total prizes are 5, since I only want the 3 month forum quiz prize, so If I were to beat just one of them and get the fifth rank, I would win the last prize. :P
I have kept the RC section at the end of my preparation; after I am done with SC, CR, PS and DS. So I don't wanna waste time attempting these questions if I were not to be considered eligible for the last prize. :P
So that's why I am asking. Thanks :)

This is the first day so anything is early to say at the moment. To be eligible for a prize a participant needs to explain at least 5 passages completely. Its up to you whether you take one passage each day or both the passage for two days and one on the other day.

PS: I have clearly mentioned in the master thread that the number of prizes may be increases or decreases based on the level of participation from the members.

PS: Reply posted by you here doesn't meet the criteria of an explanation. An explanation must explain something and here it is an RC passage.

I hope I answer your question.

Good luck!

Yea, a few minutes before you replied, I updated my question to ask about that. :P
Well, as there are only 5 people who are attempting these questions and the prizes are also 5; would the criteria for eligibility be loosened a little for the last prize? :P
Just asking because I have done almost zero practice on RC so I can't possibly post detailed explanations. :( The only way I could possibly participate in this is if I were to be allowed to post with a small explanation. :)

Meaning that the prizes would be reduced? or increased?
ie, If there were 6 people participating, then would the prizes be increased to 6? Is that what you mean? :)
Thanks

Is it possible to activate the edit option after we submit our answer explanation. By mistake I submitted the explanation after attempting only 2 questions.
Alternatively, we may be allowed to submit the answer explanations in continuation to first post.

PS - My new learning is to be careful before submitting the answers ;)

According to historical data, we have at average 12-15 participant in each competition and there had been 5 prizes. Hence if the participant remains 5 or 6 the number of prizes will decrease. If you are not read for competition yet you can keep practicing using our newly posted Official LSAT questions under RC butler 2023.

Aah, I see. So you mean to say that 33% of the participants get the prizes. :) So if the participants remain at 6, only 2 would get the prizes? Right?
Yea, I would almost certainly be eliminated so thanks for letting me know. :)
PS: In the passage that I did attempt--which you said wouldn't count--I got almost all the answers right. :P

Somehow, I was not able to post my explanation for the third question of the first passage. I got a message that only one post is allowed though I had attempted to post the explanation yesterday at around 2200hrs IST.
