Folks
Just a bit late to post this, but feels great to be back on forum. I completed my second attempt a month before and scored 710 (Q 50, V 35, AWA 6). My previous score was 650 (Q 47, V 34, AWA 5.5). I learnt lot from gmatclub and just want to share strategy for club members.
1. First and foremost, GMAT is a simple yet complex test. Simple because topics are limited and complex because your limits are achieved during course of exam. So be prepare well to have a nuts time during exam.
Books to follow:
1. Manhattan Maths Set - A must to understand basics and get familiar with questions. Most of the questions you will encounter in GMAT will resemble Manhattan maths questions.
2. OG (No need to explain)
3. Critical Reasoning - Bible - Clear in approach and fundamentals are very clear.
4.
Manhattan gmat test - Real flavor of actual gmat score you can expect (in addition to gmat prep of course).
5. Manhattan Sentence Correction (No second thought about it)
I studied for 100 hours approx. for my first attempt and you can add approx 100 more hours for my second attempt. Overall i studied 200+ hours for GMAT and believe me i am not a Maths wizard or English critic so if i can achieve 700+, most of you can. But keep in mind that i devoted approx 20% of my time giving mock full length test, and it is a must as GMAT is not so much about knowledge as it is about temperament and temperament comes from practice in real situations.
Keep a daily tracker of time you devote for gmat study as this will help you to analyze your mock test performance with practice time devoted. Attached is my GMAT daily tracker for any reference. Please feel free to get in touch with me for any query.
Last but not least, wish me good luck since i am planning to apply to Colleges this season.
