Robo_123 - Some thoughts/ clarifications:

1. Your undergrad pedigree/ GPA and work-ex (marketing/ e-commerce roles and branded employer) present interesting angles. Would like to understand your roles in more detail to assess the professional arc.

2. I'm assuming you're looking at Round-2 deadlines? Given that you'd scored higher in mocks, a retake would be worth it, particularly to increase odds at USTop-15 programs.

3. It'd be too early and speculatory to suggest schools based on this initial assessment. Broadly though, top MBA programs for marketing careers, along with hiring stats, are here. This, in conjunction with other parameters such as these can help prioritize your target programs, across a mix of Ambitious, Reach and Safe schools.

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach out thro' the links below for a deeper chat.

Hi,

I recently took my first GMAT attempt on September 23, 2024, and my score breakdown is as follows:

Quantitative: 84
Data Insights: 80
Verbal: 81
Total Score: 645 (focus edition)
I believe I could have done better in the Verbal section, as my mock scores (Experts Global and Official) consistently placed me above the score of 83.

Here’s a brief overview of my profile:

Age: 27, Female, Indian
Work Experience: Over 6 years
Awards: Cannes Young Lions Top 10 Shortlist in Media (India) and Impact 30 under 30 (India Media Industry)
Current Role: Working at the world’s largest media agency by revenue, managing Quick Commerce/E-commerce media in India for a global FMCG leader in the chocolates category. Previous experience includes roles at Blinkit and an early-stage startup, all within marketing and e-commerce.
Education: BSc (Hons) in Statistics from Delhi University (CGPA 8), 12th grade ISC (95%), 10th grade ICSE (93%). I also served as Vice President of the Statistics Department in college.

I’m passionate about marketing and branding, and based on my research, these are the MBA programs I’m considering (please feel free to suggest others):

Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management
University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School
UCLA Anderson School of Management
Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business
Ross School of Business

Could you please guide me on my next steps? Should I consider retaking the GMAT while starting my applications? Or should I proceed with my current score? I’d also appreciate any advice on other schools that might align well with my career goals in marketing and branding, as I'm unsure of the best course forward.

Thanks a bunch! I am planning for a re-attempt. Need help with a few pointers:
In case I score less next time, will this score still be valid? In case I submit this score for LBS, can I again share my score after 20 days based on my next attempt? If not, what should be the strategy?

Hi Robo_123
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, it looks good on the surface. The Cannes Young Lions shortlist and Impact 30 under 30 are significant achievements and must be highlighted appropriately to the adcoms. Moreover, your work at the world’s largest media agency, particularly managing Quick Commerce and e-commerce media for a major FMCG brand will demonstrate your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment at a high-impact role.

However, a score of 645 is slightly below average for the programs you are targeting, especially for highly competitive programs like Kellogg and Wharton. A retake, if possible, would greatly strengthen your chances. While you’re considering top programs, I would also recommend looking into Stern and Fuqua. Both offer strong marketing and media-related programs and aligns well with your career goals in branding and digital strategy.

Hey, Robo_123

With your impressive six years of experience and remarkable achievements, don’t feel discouraged by your GMAT score of 645; it’s good score! That said, retaking the GMAT could further boost your chances at top-tier schools. A more competitive score can make a difference. You should also consider applying to Stern, known for its strong focus on brand management and product marketing, which could be a great fit for your goals.

Hi Robo_123,

Your GMAT score is respectable, and your profile demonstrates a strong foundation for pursuing an MBA. Your work experience in marketing and e-commerce, coupled with your academic achievements and awards, position you well for top-tier programs.

If you believe you can significantly improve your GMAT score, consider retaking the exam. However, given your current score and other qualifications, you may proceed with your applications. Focus on crafting compelling essays that highlight your experiences, career goals, and alignment with your target schools. Your initial list of schools is well-aligned with your career goals. Consider exploring additional programs that prioritize marketing and branding.

Would you like to schedule a free consultation with one of our MBA experts to delve deeper into your profile and develop a tailored application strategy? We can help you identify the best-fit programs and optimize your chances of admission. Our contact number is +91 7780769732.

Hello Robo_123,

Thanks for writing in.

The awards and start-up experience look great and will add strong talking points. Having said this, while you have a decent GMAT score, you must look at retaking the test considering the schools you are targetting. Of course, there are a number of schools that can be targetted even with your current GMAT score; however, since you are considering a retake, the focus should be on garnering an improvement and then applying aggressively in Round 2.

Hope this helps.

All the best!

How did it go with LBS? Was a 645 strong enough?
Robo_123
Thanks a bunch! I am planning for a re-attempt. Need help with a few pointers:
In case I score less next time, will this score still be valid? In case I submit this score for LBS, can I again share my score after 20 days based on my next attempt? If not, what should be the strategy?
