Hi bb / hr1212

Please help me understand this issue.
In GMATClub QR practice test and in full tests - i was usually getting upto 82-83(QR). Then i started attempting official mocks. In all the official mocks i attempted (Mock 1 to 4 - both attempts), i always scored 87 and above in QR.
Then came the actual test, scored 82 in QR which totally ruined my overall target score.
Ok, i agree there may have been some test day anxiety.
But is it the case (a) that official mock questions may be easier than actual test questions ?
(b) GMATClub test questions are tougher than GMAT official mocks.
(c) or was i really underprepared.
(d) planning to give the test again in some time. Would appreciate the inputs.

Thanks.
I think these observations are fairly accurate. The real test does feel a bit tougher than the official mocks, though not by a huge margin. My guess is that around 5-7 questions, especially at the higher percentile range, can feel harder than what you typically see in the mocks.

If you’re targeting 85+, I’d say that consistently scoring 85 in your GMAT Club tests puts you in a strong position to replicate the performance on test day. At the same time, try to identify whether there are still any weaker areas where you feel you relatively need more targeted practice.

Hi..
Would appreciate advice on what to focus on for the next 2 months..

I gave the official mock again.. and saw a 40 point difference since I last gave it in Jan (515 vs 555).

However both times I was unable to answer the last question.. Ive rushed thru the questions yet was unable to finish the quant (first mock) and the DI( second mock) sections in the mocks.. my verbal had also been stuck at 85...

I plan to spend 2 more months prepping nd would appreciate guidance on how to go about it.. generally I know I need to up my speed and difficult for quant.. nd get more exp with DI.. ( context: It might be aspirational bt I am targeting a high 600s to 710ish score fyi). TIA

Hi, I was also in the same range last month. It is mostly the skipped questions that cause the score to go down a lot. What helped improve my score is basically to make sure I never skip any question, if any question is taking more than 3 minutes, make a strategic guess and move on. Now, I answer all questions within time and am in 655 range. Also, just know your chances in msr, if you feel like it would take too much just guess and move on, do not let those 3 questions affect the further questions.
I see your verbal is at 85, would you like to share any tips, this is my weakest area and I want to improve that
That is hopeful to hear that I may get the score improvement I want to by honing quant :)

Re; verbal I read regularly both fiction and academic type texts.. so that helps with reading stamina.. otherwise ive been
1. drilling CR and RC passages grom OG sources and lsat.
2. Practicing intentional reading.. what does the author wanna say, is this a hypothesis or observation.. what is the main argument etc.
3. Watching our for words that indicate absolutes and degrees.. makes difference in the tougher ques.

Hi admins, i had a Doubt regarding the syllabus WA@jhh3127 @hr1212 @Nikhil @bb

Im using training materials from a Tuition centre I had attended and noticed they have many modulus and geometery question for practice.
However, Im also using OG 2024-2025 and i did not see any geometery/modulus question so far

Could you advice what the upto date syllabus is and where I can check to get a better idea, im afraid of spending time on questions that may not appear at all

Geometry is not part of GMAT Focus, but you still need to know the basics for Coordinate Geometry. You can check this out - geometry-tested-on-gmat-focus-434316.html

i still have a doubt about Absolute/Modulus Questions, the syllabus indicates a 3% weightage to this topic

but when i filtered PS question in Gmatclub by Source with Only OG question from 2014 and above, see that there are no new official questions posted after 2020, doesnt this mean modulus questions are not there in gmat 2025-2026 OG and 2024-2025 OG?

Well, if you check the math review chapter in your OG, you’ll see there is Absolute Value.

Also, if you filter the PS questions using GMAT Prep (Focus) tag, you’ll see Absolute Value questions... But don’t do them if you have not taken may official mocks.

Ah that’s good to know, Thank you for your guidance 🙌🏻

I was getting the feeling that I wasted time studying modulus questions
