I am still shocked by the fact of level of questions across the paper. Ended scoring 725 which becomes a bad representation of my actual attempt

725 is awesome score and probably you will score high in your actual exam touchwood 😇♥️

WOuld it be right for me to assume that solving these MOck 3, 4, 5 and 6 for 2nd time wouldn’g give me an apt representation for my actual paper?
Real GMAT does not feel easy. In case your practice tests feel easy or you finish them with five or 10 minutes to spare, you’re not getting a representative experience for your level. Again I’m not saying their bad exams they are the most reliable predicting source but just not for the very high scorers.

That was the reason why we put a lot of hard questions into GMAT Club test was because here people tend to be focused on much higher scorers but then medium level people complain that the tests are too hard 😂

@bb I also wanted to understand how answer changes during review are treated. It seems that when I change an answer from correct to incorrect, the penalty is quite significant, whereas changing an answer from incorrect to correct does not appear to provide an equivalent benefit. Is this understanding correct, or am I misinterpreting how the scoring algorithm handles reviewed questions?

I hope so. However, the Quant section in Official Mock 4 felt noticeably easier than the other official mocks I have taken. Most questions seemed to be of medium difficulty, with very few hard questions. Because of that, I am struggling to reconcile my 725 score with the perceived difficulty of the section and am wondering whether this particular mock is calibrated differently from the others.

Will keep that in mind and my approach for practicing the last few days will be solving medium and hard questions form the GMAT book to get a better representation of actual questions

There should not be a difference in the impact of making changes to the answers on the test.

The test simply recalculates the score based on the three parameters of every question and likely the penalty you observed was either due to question being on the easier side or question having a higher certainty parameter or discrimination and thus having a higher weight among other questions.

Without confusing everyone and getting very technical, the answer change should have equal impact... logically. But honestly I feel like it would be nice to experiment with it though I don’t see a reason why it would not be...

My logic is based on the idea that if you originally answer a hard question correctly and then change it to an incorrect answer during review, the penalty could be greater than the benefit gained from changing a medium-difficulty question from incorrect to correct.

Since each response influences both my score and the difficulty of subsequent questions in an adaptive exam, this seems like an important aspect to consider. If that is how the algorithm works, it would imply that test-takers should only change an answer when they are highly confident that their revised answer is correct; otherwise, the risk of hurting their score could outweigh the potential benefit.

Unfortunately it’s really hard to tell and predict things because there are hidden question parameters that we don’t know.

However, a medium or easy question has a bigger impact on reducing your score than getting a hard question incorrect though if there is a very small number of hard question so like if they’re only four questions in the entire test and you got one of them wrong then it would be a bigger impact... but usually harder questions the system expects you to get them wrong and doesn’t penalize you as much as with easy or medium

Thank you so much for insightful discussion this also looks correct

This much unpredictability 😅 we don't how many hard level questions will come and that may also change algo and score 😅😂
We should just forgot about the algo i feel so 😅

Will keep that in mind, but suggest me this would it be a wise idea to change the answer in review for the question i don’t know how to solve or have met with a road block?

Observing the curve, its surely not a linear or inverse. Hence, Exponential is the closest answer

Follow up here,
While i understand circle C doesn't fall under the linear path, but based on x and Y values for A, B and D, doesn't it still show somewhat of a linear relationship?

Well, actually No.
If you observe, Y axis is in multiple of 50, X axis in multiple of 5. Plus its making a curve as it its increasing. So, while not exactly an exponential curve, but its definitely not a linear.
Exponential maybe, if next point goes even further in value

If you look at the numbers a bit closely, you’ll find that every 7-8 years, the revenue and market cap roughly double. That’s another way to see the exponential relationship, in addition to eye-balling.
