As a response to follow up to the monitor question (#4), an external monitor is not allowed. The GMAC website states that "you may not use any external, connected devices such as monitors, extended keyboards, writing tablets, a touchscreen stylus, or any other similar on-screen writing devices."

Hi ScottTargetTestPrep,

I haven't found all the answers I sought so I reached out to GMAC with my remaining questions. I will let you know what I hear back. In addition to the question about the transition screen between the quant and verbal section, I asked whether or not it would be acceptable to use a laptop like a desktop by using it in clamshell mode, which would entail plugging it into a monitor and using the peripherals (keyboard and mouse). IMO, taking this exam on a laptop is way less convenient than taking it on a desktop since the screen is so much smaller and lower and because the keyboard is constantly in the way. I don't see much of a difference between using a laptop in clamshell mode and using a desk top; However, I doubt that GMAC will share that opinion.

While I have not taken the test that way, there shouldn’t be any reason you couldn’t take it. That is very much like using the desktop. You will need an external WebCam with a microphone.
