Hey,
I will be taking GMAT online in two weeks.
I want to share my opinion on something and ask a question as well.
I have been hearing many complaints about the GMAT online whiteboard tool since the GMAC has released the GMAT Online. However, I think that with enough time and practise one can manage to use the tool very well and should not face any difficulties with the sections, especially it is now in available on the website. The whiteboard is not the most difficult part of the exam delivery.
The thing that gives me hard times is the absence of the break in between the Q&V section. I feel like taking the exam w/o a break makes me more vulnerable to careless mistakes such as missing out punctuation or important modifiers on the verbal section. Would you agree if I say that taking the GMAT w/o a break is the same as playing a football match for 90 minutes straight or attempting a F1 race with no pitstop? It is doable, but it affects your performance dramatically. Therefore, I do not understand how and why GMAC compares the results of people who have taken the GMAT with a break, having time to have some food and to reorganise their mental processes for the upcoming section, to the results of those people who have been sitting at the desk for more than two hours straight?
Since GMAC announced the structure of the exam, I have been doing some practise sets of questions (first quant, then verbal) for two hours straight and my results are much worse (2 times more mistakes on Verbal) with no break than with a break. Obviously, the same applies to mocks.
I understand that it is almost impossible to improve my stamina significantly in two weeks period, but I am asking for some tips and tricks that would make my 2+ hours sitting on the desk less miserable. I have watched some videos on GMAT online from GMAT Club and a few more videos from other guys. The absence of the break was mentioned briefly and no other useful information was provided.
Would you share your experience or provide an insight into an experience of others, please?
Thank you in advance and stay healthy!
