Hey There, Hope You're having a fantastic day! Requesting Experts, Current Students, Alumni, Professors to Reply! Even if You're not one of these individuals, Feel free to answer if you think you have anything valuable to share. aragonn Akela MBAPrepCoach EMPOWERgmatRichC bb Bunuel VeritasKarishma GMATinsight @ CrackVerbal egmat A lot of Young Aspirants have this question about their MBA Journey I'm sure! So Your Answer is of massive value to them. I'm currently preparing for the GMAT and my test date is on the 3rd of October 2019. I've been preparing for the most part of the past two months now, and I've been making progress. I spend a lot of time trying to familiarize myself with the GMAT overall and today, I came across the Score Reporting portion of the test at mba.com. I've understood that each candidate shall have to select 5 B Schools to send a score report to. Before I give you my Questions, allow me to give some context!- I'm a recent graduate, hence a fresher. I'm currently trying to gather knowledge about what careers could ideally suit me and my potential. - My only intention of attempting the GMAT this early is to leverage the 5 Year validity of the test Score that the GMAT provides. I plan to give myself the maximum time to build a great profile over the period following my GMAT test. This is the best time to attempt this test for me because, once I get a great score (760 being my target), The GMAT is out of my way in my MBA journey, and I'll have the time and the focus on my Professional and Personal Competencies for an MBA. - I do have an interest in the fields of Product Management and Management Consulting. I will only have the clarity as to which career is the right fit for me as I explore. Hence, I arrive at the next point. - I shall also need some time to have good clarity about which Schools I apply to. This depends upon my career choice. For now, I fancy the prospect of NYU Stern, INSEAD, and Alliance MBS Coming to My Question! Keeping the context in mind, should I or should I not choose to send my scores to these schools on Test Day? Or should I wait before I send it to them, which I feel I should? Also, should I be sending my score on Test Day at all ?(Correct Me If I'm wrong) _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Send in Your Kudos, it Helps!

This aspect of GMAT is often misunderstood. You don't "send scores" to schools when you pick 5 of them before your test. You "allow" these schools to view your score card "when" you apply to them eventually. So when I pick INSEAD as one of my schools of choice, and then when I apply to it, it will be able to view my official GMAT score card. If I don't apply for two years, it will not bother with my score card for two years. Only when I actually apply, will they take cognizance. So it is absolutely fine to choose your 5 schools free of cost right now instead of paying for them later.

It is also good to know that if you pick the schools you want to send the test score to at the beginning of the exam but at the end of the exam you decide to cancel your test score, your cancelled score will not be sent to the schools you have selected at the beginning of the exam. However, you can always reinstate your cancelled score later and resend score to school for a fee (about $35 per school) so I recommend picking your schools anyway:
