If you're applying for an MBA, one of the first big decisions is choosing between the GMAT and GRE.
While most B-schools accept both, each test has unique characteristics that make it better suited for different candidates.
Scoring and question formats also differ.
GMAT Focus scoring ranges from 205 - 805, while GRE scores range from 260 - 340. GMAT's Quant section is generally considered tougher, but the GRE places a heavier emphasis on verbal reasoning.
Broadly speaking, if you're stronger in math, GMAT may be a better fit. If verbal is your strength, the GRE could work in your favor.
Not sure which one suits you best? Take a mock test of both! This will help you gauge where you’re naturally comfortable, which sections feel intuitive, and where you have room to improve.
Several candidates also switch from GMAT to GRE (or vice versa) when they hit a plateau in their prep. If you're struggling to improve despite multiple attempts, switching tests might be a smart move.
