Rough season huh? Me too.
Hey gents, sorry to hear it was brutal.
I applied last year and got dinged straight through. It took me about 3 months to shake it all off before I was ready to think about applying again.
This time around:
1) Was much more candid with what I wanted out of business school, a career change. Was way too non-commital last year because I really did not know what I wanted.
2) Had a tighter narrative over how I got to this point. During undergrad I learned X -> Job 1 learned Y -> Job 2 learned Y2. Now I want a career change that requires X+Y+Z . I am missing Z and an MBA will provide it.
3) I also took the opportunity to move to a new roll within my current company, this was part of the above narrative. "I wanted broader experience and something out of my comfort zone to make me a more effective problem solver"
The result was three acceptances, despite feeling like absolute garbage last year.
