Guys, for the essays, does the online application allow us to submit more words than what is recommended? I am slightly over the limit and am not able to bring it down. I can ofcourse enter and save 250++ words for the essay but I am not sure if it will go through. Has anyone submitted with more than 250 and see it going through?

Working 100%, Submitted with over word count just fine.
Does anyone know if Haas allows a week or so after the R1 deadline (16th october) for recommenders to submit their recos? I recently found out BOOTH allowed a week after their Oct 3rd deadline for recommendations to be turned in. Thanks in advance.
Hi Rajiv,
Apparently they do. This is from the website
Quote:
As long as you have submitted your application and paid the application fee by the deadline, it is acceptable for your recommender to submit the letter of recommendation a few days after the deadline date. Please keep in mind that without two letters of recommendation, you application will be considered incomplete and cannot be reviewed until both letters have been received.

Thanks a ton. One of my recommenders submitted today .. Hopefully the other one will go in soon as well. Good luck to all!

At an online chat session, a Berkeley rep said that going over the word limit by 5% is fine (someone said they were struggling with length, and the rep offered that percentage up themselves). With that guideline, the 250 word maxes could go up to 262, and the 750 could go up to 787.
Anyone has input for the below problem? Does everyone's job responsibility for each employer just fit into a nice little paragraph?

QUESTION REGARDING EMPLOYMENT RECORD: In Haas' instruction they said to list ONE entry for each employer, even if we worked in different divisions. Well I have held 3 full-time and 1 temporary positions under different lines of businesses in a very large financial company. Under the "responsibility/key accomplishments" question, I answered in a format like this:
position#1:xxx responsibilities: - xx - xx key accomplishments: - xx - xx
position#2: xxx .. ..
position #3: xxx
But when I look at the "print application" page, my answer got grouped into one big messy paragraph: position #1: xxx responsibilities: - xx - xx - xx key accomplishments: -xx - xx - xx position #2: xxx........
This looks really bad. How did everyone else deal with this? Will Adcom see this one big lump paragraph as well? How can I write the responsibilities and accomplishments of 3 positions neatly in one paragraph?

Sorry can't help you on formatting. I think they expect it to look bad....
But, how do you prevent this from being a complete rehash from your resume?

I can't be of much help either. But, if you are really struggling with it you can probably put extra space/tabs etc. to make it legible or mail/call the adcom to confirm. I won't worry too much about it.

Just tried adding spaces and the "print application" preview gave me NO spaces either. I think the answer is coded to eliminated all tabs, extra spaces and paragraph breaks. I ended up adding "***" around job titles like this: **** 1) xxxx *** RESPONSIBILITIES: xxxx KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: xxxx **** 2) xxxx **** RESPONSIBILITIES... and so on.
Hope that's easy enough on the eye. I wonder how much the adcom read into details here, since most of them are similar to what I have on the resume.
All other schools I've looked into will accept scores as long as they are within 2 years of the application deadline. I've emailed Haas about this and they will not make any exceptions. I took my TOEFL in March 2012, which is valid for other schools but not Haas. What a bummer.
Oh geez. What a pain. Sorry to hear this.
Agree. Pain it is. Especially, if you're from one of the over-rep demographic, even finding a slot could be a challenge.
I'm not able to enter my phone number. It doesn't allow me to enter the last 2 digits. Anyone else faced the same problem?

I was certainly able to enter all of the digits. I checked on the print preview too and they were there. Could it be because you might have a 10 digit phone number?

I do. But, strange that the system doesn't allow me to enter them. Surely, I can't be the first applicant having a 10 digit number.
Did everyone who applied in R1 get an email from the Admissions Specialist reminding us to keep our transcripts ready to submit if we get invited for an interview?
I got an email from admissions today, it indicates next steps, important dates and ways to keep in touch, but it nothing about transcripts for interviews...
