Science and Engg. dual major here. I am not sure which bucket Haas put me into - Feel like the Schrodinger's cat right now.

It depends on what you're doing for a living and what you told them you want to do after school. If you're doing research, you're in the science bucket. If you're coding software, you're in the engineering bucket.

That said, I don't think I've seen a single engineer on the facebook page yet. A couple scientists, a couple consultants, and a good number of people in business operations. It is possible they're waiting until R2 to make a decision on the engineers.

It's possible some haven't done introductions on the facebook page, but fact of the matter is there is a serious lack of engineering types there so far. For those of you waitlisted, you probably have a pretty decent chance since chances are engineers will still make up 24% of the incoming class.

i doubt that there are many who haven't introduced themselves on the facebook page.
i am guessing at most 5-7... i think even if Haas has admitted 40, it still leaves 220 slots to fill and hopefully 50+ of them will be engineers...
but then we already have 40+ engineers waitlisted in R1...

for instance, if stanford started a part-time mba program, I highly doubt Haas would have the luxury of using the waitlist so heavily.

After all, if I were the adcom, I'd also want to use the waitlist heavily so I can see more of the pool before I commit to any single engineering person.

It also allows them to weed out the people from the Bay Area that also applied to a full time program.

That makes me think, why in the world would Stanford not have a part-time MBA program?
Do they think part-time MBA is not a good investment of ones time?

I thought so too but there's more than one person on here with Haas EWMBA and other FT programs in their profile. It's apparently a somewhat common thing for Bay Area residents.

Stanford doesn't even offer an undergraduate business degree. Some schools think it dilutes their brand. Whatever works for them.

I'd say 10-25% PT people would apply to FT programs too. First, I think a lot of the people applying to EWMBA will do well on the GMAT. I've heard the indian IT applicant to Haas has an average of 740 on the test.

Even with 730+, an applicant is already higher than Stanford's average GMAT at 726, and Stanford has the highest average in the world. Why not try?

Also, thinking of it backwards, how many FT applicants from the Bay Area use Haas EWMBA as their backup? For instance, "If I can't get into H/S/W, then maybe I'll stay at my job and do a part-time MBA at Haas". I presume at least some bay area folks would, despite how absurd it sounds to have Berkeley, one of the top institutions in the world, as a backup.

Personally, I'd think they'd apply to the FT program, but that's as hard to get in to as HBS. EWMBA gets fewer applications so I guess they think it's easier to get in to. Who knows.

In any case, one more week until the next round of decisions come out.

We all want one of those seats. 62 feels small considering how many engineers I know and how many I can imagine have applied this year.

I'm not even on the w'list! so I probably shouldn't be here :p.. but anyhow.. we have a lot of ppl from either Computer science or engineering, I thought Hass looks for diversity, I haven’t seen anybody from a design background (besides me), some unheard life story like mine, great achievements at work for the past six years, great rec letter, pretty good GPA, but low Gmat.. so what they look at is your GMAT score! That’s sucks!! There is so much more :(
