Hi,
Adding to what others have already pointed out.
I had purchased the Veritas prep CATS and took the fourth one today.
I scored a miserable 570 today. However I am not sure if that truly reflects the level that I am at right now.
In Quant's section I got 8 mistakes (2, 9,10, 17,18,26,30,36) and veritas put me at Q43
VeritasPrepBrandon,
VeritasPrepBrian,
VeritasPrepRonCould you please help me understand If the scoring algorithm is fine. I can understand if 8 mistakes do not reflect 49,50 but how can it be so low at 43.
Also as Alchemist pointed out, my scores in
Manhattan gmat have been 630, 690, 680.
Kaplan GMAT score has been 690
I have been consistently preparing by taking leave of absence from my office and this score has truly demoralized me to a large extent.
It gives me a feeling that all the preparation that has been done in the last couple of days is of absolutely no use.
Can you please help me understand if the scoring was right for the Quant section?
I can share the credentials privately for veritas prep team to take a look into the account.

Hi GMAT followers,
Yesterday I took the free Vertias CAT to see how it works. I have done all
MGMAT and GMATPrep CATs in addition to three actual GMAT exams.
I have to say that Vertias was probably more difficult than the two others I mentioned, in Quant and Verbal questions, though the Integrative Reasoning was easier.
Here are some details:
Quant:
- The Vertias Quant was the only and first Quant that made me 3 minutes behind the schedule at very end. (I usually score 48-50)
- Basically I could notice lots of logics that are derived from
OG Quant.
- Some questions in 700+ domain needed more than 3-4 minutes to be solved, unless you knew some math tricks. (e.g. finding the number of multiples that have particular characteristics for a 4 digits integer)
- Data Sufficiency was difficult and standard, as its one of the weaknesses of the Gmat Prep industry, except for
MGMAT.
Verbal:
- Sentence Corrections was Okay, a good mix of
OG structures and new questions mostly in comparisons, modifiers and pronoun problems.
- Reading was tough with very technical passages and the questions that were focused on Inferences but on general issues. I mean it was not easy to skim the passage and find the source of the inferences later on the passage, because the answer choices were addressing different inferences that referred to different issues of the passage, not only one issue.
- Critical Reasoning was Okay, though some times too long and detailed. In two questions I found it very difficult to pick the correct answer, even after reading the answer choices, so probably this part is slightly different from GMAT. ( not noticeable in the first 10 questions)
I usually score in range 650- 730 on other tests, but on first Vertias I scored 630. I do not know how its algorithm works, though according to my wrong answers, my score seems fair.
These are just my reflections on the free Vertias CAT. I found the exam tougher than actual GMAT but quite challenging for those who want to go further. I mean the higher level of difficulty might be later justified by the stress and exam conditions of actual GMAT.
I can't say these reflections are validated unless listen to your insights. So please share with me any experience you've had with Vertias, because I am considering it to be the main CATs before my next GMAT within two months.
Any suggestion is much appreciated for CAT replacements.
Thanks
