Hi Gourav,

Shortlisting colleges requires us to evaluate a few parameters such as the quality of your work experience, and the nature of your post-MBA goals.

Without knowledge of that, it purely becomes a GMAT based game. From that point of view, the colleges that you've outlined (and others in the same league in terms of ranking) should be ok.

Regards,
Karthik

Hi Gourav,

While you take a fair shot at these programs, why don't you also research higher ranked b-schools like Schulich, Sauder and McGill? Same goes with the American programs.

Thanks for submitting the extra information, but its still difficult to understand your career goals. Do you have any prior experience in the financial sector - this could be through projects done with financial services clients? If not, then changing your industry to a completely different one, to which you have no professional exposure, is going to be really difficult, atleast from the perspective of writing a convincing goals story.

I do have work experience of working in finacial sector from technical point of view.I am currently engaged to a project that provides technical support to one of the largest custodian bank of US.
Talking about high profile schools which you pointed out, do you think my profile is good enough for those? Moreover what are the chances if admission to the collges listed by me..please note tution fees and scholarships are one of prominent parameters of selecting colleges

Gourav, thanks for the clarification about your WE. Prior experience will help you write a stronger goals essay. You should connect the dots between what you have done so far, what skills/knowledge have you built and how will these along with an MBA education, help you make the transition to a new role.

Keeping your check-boxed stats aside, it would be the strength of your resume, essays and recos that will determine your chances as any b-school- the ones you mentioned or the ones I mentioned. The mantra for a successful application and ensuing scholarships is a very strong application.

If you can suggest me college names explicitly based on my profile, that would be really helpful
